It may have been discussed here but if so, let's do it again. Two Italian classics - Ferrari and Sophia Loren. A magnificent silver coupe, possibly a 340 or 375. I saw that great movie last night and although the car looked familiar, I could not identify it. Model? Serial number? Present owner? Present location? Let the games begin!! Bob Z.
I've seen it listed as a 375 America Pinin Farina Coupe. Also found a listing of 8 produced: 0293AL, 0307AL, 0315EU, 0317AL, 0319AL, 0329AL, 0339AL, 0355AL (http://www.finecars.cc/en/editorial/article/news/ferrari-375-america/index.html). If all of this is correct, should be one of those.
Defiinitely 375 America. 0339 I think. John Delamater had it for awhile probably back in the 1980s. I think for sale around $55,000 if memory is correct. Beautiful car. I watch that movie occasionally to see it in action.
If you think a Daytona is like driving a truck, you should try one of these! But, IMHO, still one of the most successful body designs ever. And great in a straight line.
this thread reminded me of the last time I heard a reference to this movie - a Dennis Miller stand-up routine; I think this culture speaks out one side of its mouth to homosexuals and then holds them at arms length with the other. They tell them things like: Well ya know get some therapy, er maybe will your way out of it. Or cant ya just not do it? Thats not the way it works folks. Its my Boy on a Dolphin Theory: If youre a twelve-year old boy and youre watchin the movie Boy on a Dolphin, and Sophia Loren crawls up outta the Aegean Sea after sponge-diving. Shes twenty-eight years old, shes standin there on the deck of that boat in that see-thru gauze top, drippin wet, all over the boat deck If youre a twelve year old boy and you can watch that, and you still wanna f!!k the captain youre gay! now back to Ferraris . . .. .
The car used in the movie, "Boy on a Dolphin" is a 375 America, # 0339AL. After the movie the car was owned by Gene Greenspun, who had several Ferrari race cars, as his daily transportation in Manhattan. I rode in this car, around the UN complex, in 1957. Quite a first Ferrari experience.
