Something interesting I noticed on my Boxer was the whole underside of the car has aluminum sheets riveted in,its totally flat with no open areas, was this an early attempt at ground effects?

    Hi.......

Wonder if your Boxer has been modified by other owners ?! My 1977 512 Boxer is "flat bottom" to the fire wall only. The engine bay has no aluminum sheets at the bottom. There is an aluminum heat shield between the bellhousing and the mufflers at the rear of the frame.

The 365 Boxer is known to "lift" at the front end at high speeds, so the 512 Boxers have a chin spoiler to make sure that the front end stays firmly attached to the ground.
