Good point. In Texas, cars over 25 years old, e.g. a 78 512 BB, are exempt from all but safety tests. Of course, carb 512s are the most valued of the three BB models. Thanks for your thoughts!
Where did you get your information on about 75 Boxers in the U.S.? I know this subject has been disscused a ton but first time someone has givin a number.I would like to hear your sources.
It was in the archives quoted from Forza, about 275 total est Boxers in the US with 75 being 365s and 512BBs.
It's a 1960 Lotus 18 Formula Jr. and it belongs to the VP at Griot's. He vintage races it and it was in the process of being worked to get it ready the upcoming season. The body was being stored up on top of the cabinets while the chassis, engine were being worked on somewhere else.
Boxerman, Absolutely smokin. What year? Have any images in the sun? Beautiful car. Robb Williamson Centennial, Colorado www.williamsonimages.com
Boxerman, FYI, if it is was built in 1982, it is a 1982 model. Ferrari didn't subscribe to making a car in the Fall of one year and designating that car as the next model year as American manufacturers and now most all car manufacturers do . Especially with a Boxer that was never made for the U.S. market to begin with. What you have is a Boxer made in 1982 that wasn't titled in the U.S. until 1983. Even if a Boxer was build at 1700 hours on 31Dec82, it is still a 1982 model. It is a beautiful Boxer though!
Boxerman Let me have the last 5 digits of the VIN and I can tell you where it falls in the serial number range of 512BBi's. I'm on the road until Friday, so it will be three days before I can access my database. Lee Sanders 27001
Suspected it was an 18. Thanks Tell the bloke to get on the phone across The Pond to Charlie March for an invite to Goodwood sometime! Do I have to explain who and what Charlie March and Goodwood is/are? Not patronising, just not sure how much info you get your side of The Pond as regards vintage and classic racing. I would be suprised if Road&Track didnt cover Goodwood though.
