Yes Ill be installing two that look new! And with exhaust manifolds in the way, not the easiest to access but I have a short socket and universal joint that makes it pretty easy.

Custom cams degreed in then off came the heads to add putty, reinstall heads and rotate crank two revolutions and pull the heads again. Verified piston to valve clearance is more than needed and a necessary step when deviating from stock....unless you're a gambling man. People get away with skipping this step all the time but I've caught enough potential disasters where I just won't skip it. You don't know if you don't check. The heads are back on and torqued down for the last time.

What year did the spark plug tubes go from clear zinc to gold zinc? Was it a carb vs injected change?

Do you reuse the head gaskets when you pull the heads on and off to check clearances with putty?
    Looks great!

It's a thing of beauty ... too bad we have to hide her away beneath the rear clamshell.

The correct thermostat housing for this 76 boxer was replaced with the common external unit along with the upper coolant pipe to address a cavitation problem boxers apparently had. It was a service bulletin. It might explain why the water pump impeller housing was eroded? I bought a new impeller housing a friend reproduced which was also ceramic coated. This incorrect thermostat housing has been a sore spot for some time but I found the right one and the correct upper pipe with the additional water nipple that goes with this style housing. An important detail crossed off the list!

Working on the mechanicals up front before I install the engine. The a/c line position is critical before the engine goes in so the rads need to be in then the lines are pulled tight especially the one that goes behind the right fuel tank. Then the fuel tank gets secured in place and I know the lines will reach the compressor! You don't want to find out after the engine is in that the line is 2" too short.

Im working on the a/c controls as well and that little box with the Ferrari tax applied is over $2K, at least my local dealer quoted me that. I haven't figured out what other cars use it so I plate the housing and its good to go. There's no way this is a ferrari specific part, I just haven't found out who else uses it.

I have 1156 bulb sockets to return the front signals to original vs the 1157 sockets they get during a DOT conversion.

The small box is a pressostat from the company Ranco. I bought one NOS in US on fleabay for less than 30$. Just ensure the pressure range is correct and transfer the aluminum bracket and the threaded brass nipple fitting from the old one and you have saved the F-tax.

    Best regards

    Peter
