Me and the daughter went to grocery store yesterday and the bonnet failed to open when I pushed the button. Any ideas, I would like to fix it myself rather than spend a day at the dealer. Fixing to call the service manager now and get some troubleshooting ideas..

were you able to open it with the backup (pull string under the dash)? (refer to owners manual. Of course, I keep mine in there, but you can access it online)

If so, would do a close look-over of the latch mechanism and the various microswitches. Had this happen once, my method (open it, close it) seemed to fix it.

IIRC one or two folks actually had small issues with the actual switch for the bonnet and/or fuel filler. In our case it was a one-off I attributed to not having the latch fully engaged.

Excellent response. What side is the pull string on? I will try that and see if it was just an one time electrical gremlin. At work now, will go home at lunch and try that. Thank you, will keep everyone updated.

Also, have you tried both the button on the floor as well as the button on the key?

    Good point....ha ha.

OP, the pull string is under the driver side dash, I think it's tucked to the left of the steering column. I had to get under there and reach around to pull it down...and then pulled gingerly. Basically it's a manual backup to the electrical actuator. When done, tuck it back up else it will be annoying

Easy troubleshooting; if key works and floor switch doesn't, it's the switch and vice versa. If neither work, you will need to figure out if it's the switch itself, the actuator or something else.

Also, try pushing down slightly on the Ferrari logo on the hood (bonnet) as you press the button on the remote. Worked for me once.

Service Dept helped me get it fixed over the phone.

Lock door, wait a minute, unlock door, press bonnet button once, let off, and press again this time holding it down until it unlocks. Note: I did not have to press it the 2nd time, it worked on the first push. Apparently the security system needed rebooting.

This is good to know. Thanks for posting.

I had this happen. Thought the key fob was faulty. Got the other fob. To check the fob I unlocked the car which must have reset the alarm as the boot opened with either key. Thought I hadn't pushed the fob button properly. Don't recall seeing this in the manual.

My trunk is stuck closed and I’m getting the error “warning front bonnet open” even though it’s closed. Tried everything in this thread and nothing has worked! Any suggestions?

Good post. Never had it happen, but great knowledge to write in your manual. I had an incident where my gas service would not open. Was instructed to simply remove the key from the ignition and proceed. It worked well. Called Ferrari of Lauderdale and received this info.

Were you able to open it manually using the string?

Yes I got it open that way. When I close it though, Inget an error that the front bonnet is open even though it’s closed and so I keep having to use the emergency string. so there is clearly some issue with the sensor. I accidentally slammed my my trunk the other day and this issue has only been happening since then. So I’m just not sure what to do or what part is broken and to replace.

You may have put a bend in the boot lid. This could cause the switch to not engage fully. Those aluminium panels are pretty soft. A better guess is that the switch is damaged.

    Take it to your dealer.

Hi I had the same problem with trunk fault light on the dashboard, after reading this post I tried a few suggestions I then noticed that the velcro holding the emergency escape INSIDE the truck had come unattached so I disconnected the plastic handle and reglued I then noticed the wire was bent so I straightened that and reattached the pull handle, closed the truck and boom truck working again I think the bend may have been pulling the release and activating the sensor... worked for me. Worth a look if yours isn't working.

The manual also discusses a re-sync process for the bonnet release and fuel door release, which is necessary after reconnecting the battery.
