I saw a yellow Enzo for sale and I believe it is Bob Rapp's but I am sure NNO can tell us for sure. What makes this more unique is that the engine was replaced. Does anyone here no why the engine was replaced? It says the engine has a 2 year warranty since it was just replaced by Ferrari.

Here is the ebay link: (Note there are a lot of great pictures at the link)

I believe he had extensive engine trouble earlier this year and had to send the car back to Italy for an engine swap/repair...

Its too bad, I had got to sit in that amazing car while it was down in that area, now its leaving, he seemed to be happy with the car...I dunno?

Is that "Wow" as in "what a deal" or as in "yikes what a frightening number?" :)

Actually, having never seen an Enzo with this kind of miles I am curious what it is worth. Most of the Enzos I have seen have 1000 miles on them give or take 500.

how can they say this car is perfect when they just replaced the motor. I would think it takes a lot of hurt one those motor enough to have to replace it.

the following was taken from the Car and Driver article when they tested Rapp's Enzo.

So do a lot of other people with the cash to afford an Enzo, so Rapp submitted the requisite application to Ferrari and promptly sold his entire car collection. After some haggling and a few stressful cell-phone calls, his Enzo landed at Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro, North Carolina, in March, painted in Ferrari "fly yellow" with caramel-colored seats and a set of fitted Ferrari luggage. Sure enough, everyone wanted to see it.

here is the link to the entire article.

There are several Enzo's out there with new engines that were replaced by factory. Routine service discovered ?valvespring bits in sump. Cars were running fine, the couple I had heard about had been well-driven and meticulously serviced. So, it isn't abuse.
As for the non-original motor, the factory sends a big pallet with a new motor, wants old one back.
Perhaps he is getting an FXX??? Sad that he sold his collection for Enzo, I wouldn't have done that. I would be bent if my Enzo ingested valve bits, probably wouldn't keep it either.

    Good point........

    *grinding steel*

What numbers do you want?? LOL!

FoH has put at least one new Enzo engine in as well. They found microscopic particles in the oil, they did NOT fail.......they don't call ME for permission, or anything, they just "Do it"......is that trademarked?? Can I still say that? Where's whart?

The FXX will drive all Enzos below $1M, IMO. It's just the way the market works.........

Ferrari of San Antonio replaced a motor in a 5000 mile Enzo not too long ago, same problem had occurred. I thought the same thing, why would I want a $1,000,000 plus car with a non original number replaced engine? You know the car dogs are going to stick it to you when you go to trade it in on your new F60, talk about being pissed, I would be beyond that.

News flash , the FXX wont drive the enzo below $1M because they are already there. I have seen 2 sell now for right at $900k. Besides the FXX won't do that, too limited numbered. It's no even a street car, however the F60 will when it debuts in a year or so. If you listen close you can hear it running around Fiorano. ;)

    I myself am not sure......

Sme Enzos are going for 1.2M +...but then the sticker was 650k, and this doesnt even have an original engine.

So I think a Yikes is more fitting.

Q&A's about the engine/car, for those that didn't get to the end of the page ;)

Q: How hard is it? If you want to sell this car, we would like an answer in writing. What happened to the car's engine? Did it throw a rod? Cylinder problems? Please, just put in writing what the defect was so we can have a better understanding. Thanks, JM

A: I just got verification from my service director that the malfunction occurred because of a valve spring that had come loose. We called Ferrari, and they tod us to box the engine in a crate and send it off to them. When they received it, they wanted to do a reverse engineering on it and decided to send us a brand new engine that is guaranteed for another 2 years. I hope I have answered all of your questions. So you are interested in buying the car? Would you like me to call you and go over the numbers? Please let me know. Thanks. Nick Pafford 336-544-3687 Foreign Cars Italia

Q: Sir, What is the history with the vehicle, owner's use? my question follwows your last comment about the BRAND NEW engine installed in the car. Thank you in advance for further information. Sincerely, JP

A: There was a malfunction in the engine. So Ferrari told us to send the engine back so that they could fix the problem, but they automatically sent us a brand new engine that will have a 2 year warranty on it. So there are no miles on the engine at all. The previous owner of the car drove it alot and there was a big write up about this very same car in the Car and Driver magazine. He is a local customer here in NC. Are you interested? Please call Nick. Nick Pafford 336-544-3687 Foreign Cars Italia

Q: why was the engine replaced on such an aexpensive automobile. I own a 1992 F40 with 600 Miles I purchased from Newport Autosport when they were in business & have never had any problems. you would think on a million dollar automobile it would be perfect in all aspects? Regards P.R.

I don't think an Enzo with a non-matching number engine will be of any less value than a fully original Enzo.

The main reason that people care about matching numbers is because if you want to buy a 60's Corvette you want to be sure that the small-block Chevy engine belongs to a Corvette and not a 1981 pick-up truck that had 300,000 miles since the engines may look similar on the outside.

There is little chance an Enzo engine ever was used to haul bricks or construction workers to a job site, especially since the engine came directly from Ferrari and was installed by an authorized Ferrari dealer.

There haven't been so called "matching numbers" Ferraris since the early 70's.
ie serial number and engine number the same.

Exactly right... Enzo engine numbers are five digit numbers that are completely separate from the serial number... Still, i would love to know what the new engine number is...

So who's gonna go to FCI and ask them...?

Matching numbers means # of chassis and engine mated at factory are same. Early cars had SN's different by 2 from numero motori.
Concours will kick their ashes in 20-30 years. Or, there will be old motors for sale from England with....nevermind.
