    Okay I'm slightly nuts, but that's okay. I just bought 2 1998 BMW Z3 M Roadsters.

I bought the first one sort of on the rebound, I was about to buy a 2015 porsche carrera s manual and the day I was going to finalize the deal I decided nope not yet. So then what does a car addict do look for something else which I did and of course I found a low mileage car at a BMW dealership outside of Boston. Okay looks great in pics made a deal pick up car drive it home.

3 weeks later a car pops up locally, with lots of work done by Randy Forbes - a legend in the Z3 community including a supercharger. Have to go look and drive it, right. So, go look, drive and can't walk away must have it and I do.

I really like these cars, they handle decent, good power, open top and an old school feel from behind the wheel. I'm happy.

Anyone else out there driving these?

I had a Z4M roadster for several years that was all hopped up with Dinan bits. Had a lot of good times in that car including track work. Different car than the Z3 M roadster but I know the feeling. A boatload of good times for not a lot of money.

    Pics?

I recently bought my first BMW, a 2011 128i coupe with a 6-speed stick and M-sport suspension. Was looking for a small BMW manual transmission coupe as a year-round DD. It's not an M car, but for the cost of entry (less than $10K) I feel it's got great bang for the buck (so far, *knocks on wood*): it's small, handles great, smooth NA inline-6, decent power, manual, reasonable expected reliability, looks great IMO, reasonable mpg. And with a stick, it's what I like best - it's rare but not expensive.

Now I'll have to look at Z3 M roadsters too, lol.

Tons of car(s) for the buck, and, not a Porsche is even a bigger and better BOOM in my eyes :)

Enjoy them both, they're special cars. Only downsides are the welds up front, as long as those are in good condition....MANY miles and smiles.

Thanks guys. They will be fun for sure and reasonable prices, I think.

You mean the welds in the rear. Where the subframe and diff mount.

The second car had it all done by Forbes and he put the supercharger in the car (one with hartop) Apex wheels and stromung exhaust. The original wheels and the original exhaust were part of the deal. Many, many other things done besides the supercharger. Image Unavailable, Please Login . The first car I brought in to a shop on LI that Randy Forbes recommended and they put in his reinforcement kit. Just drove that car to FL and it was fantastic. I figured it was like when I bought my Boxer, I put in the upgraded diff carrier to to put the broken diff nightmare potential behind me.

The supercharged car is an animal. Reportedly 270-300hp to rear wheels at 8-9 lbs boost. More than enough for me.
