Wowsas. I bought this one out in Hollywood CA about 2 and half years ago and drove it all the way up here to the chicago area (2100 miles). Car ran like a stallion all the way.

Just be happy you have one of THE greatest sedans ever made, especially in Imola.

    I love mine...crappy plastics aside.

Yeah, the windshield hated the satellite antenna, so we put it there :/ The last wheels were the style 95's I saw one guy asking about them in a thread, tried it, posted pics and in 6 months every E38 had them, so I went to the 126's

This color was STUNNING at night, sort of lavender/blue and for an older car almost always got front row parking though the roar od the magnaflows made valets like to take it for a spin a lot.

Steel blue, my favourite. My e39 is the same colour, but I think this is the first time I've seen pics of an e38 with it!

I have a 2015 328GT. I love the car but I've noticed on every late model BMW I've driven is that the interior gets extremely hot and the heat intensity you feel on your arm is much higher than any other car I've driven. I have the rear windows tinted to 20%, driver and passenger doors at 35% and the front window at a very very light tint. I feel as though I'm baking in the car while driving but my Hondas, vws and fords I've never had this happen before.
    Anybody else experience this?

Only the last few hundred (~400) were built in steel blue, about 100 were sports. They are the last of the last for US import. The build dates are as late as 10/1/2001. I lifted the rear seats in mine to find the work order for the car for seating delivery to be 9/10/01. The assembly of my car was halted because the world pretty much halted on 9/11/01. I was telling my buddy about an hour ago how I love that color when we saw an E46 with it.

Fascinating. Yes, I recall the furore when they announced the E65...everybody was running to buy E38s, the dealers could not handle the demand.

Mine, including a pic from doing the chain guides and 6spd swap last year.

I feel like running out and buying an E46 in steel blue more and more when I see these pix. The e39 and the e39t with these wheels is so hot to me.

Ha, I used to have those wheels! (Style 42)...they were too small at 17" for the tires I wanted.

Once Audi buybacks my A3, I'm considering buying my friends 2005 e46 that he plans to get rid of. Has 74K miles.

Beautiful car. I also remember that. Everybody was out ordering 01s and the second hand prices actually went up LOL.

Love the BBS lipped wheels on the E39 530i that they commonly were ordered on. M parallels look great too. Can't go wrong with either. I'd definitely go for a 540 if I were going to buy one. But I remember driving those 530 sports. They are fantastic cars, plenty of power.

Running the new aluminum radiator in the E38 as of now. Glory. And I love the radiator nipple delete! Another common issue derailed!

Won't you have the option of keeping the A3? I really like mine, and I'd think that the economy of the diesel would make the car even more desirable.

Oh, I love my A3, and initially never planned to do the buyback. But the amount of money it looks like they're going to offer is way too tempting. No way I'll ever get close to it in a trade-in or private sale.

I'm also sort of ready to get something different again. I'm not 100% about my friends car, and haven't spoken to him about it, just throwing the ideas around in my head.

Or maybe 355Dreamer will part with his wagon, I'd certainly love to buy that.....;)

My father has a black e39 540i he wants to sell. I think it has around 60k miles. No sport package however. :(

    Any idea what it's worth?
