Since the question came up about yellow Ferraris, I heard an interesting story as to the origin of the blue interiors in some of the early Ferrari race cars.

Years ago, Ferrari personnel wore blue overalls. Apparently a car was being prepared for an event, the material for the interior was unavailable in time for completion. Being the night before the car had to leave, some resourceful member of the team decided to rip apart the overalls worn by the other workers and use that material for the seat covers. Somehow that became a tradition.

Thus the blue interiors. To this day, I still find the combination of red and blue to be perfect for a race car.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    That's the urban legend........

The cloth is very good absorbing heat and moisture, I think that'd be the real origin, IMO...

But the 'late night at the Factory" is a great one, alongside 'stealing road signs at night to make the doors" one, that builds on the hmble beginnings of the marque.....

Boxer shorts it was, and with cowboy boots.

This must really be the day for urban legends - now, wonder how those "sheepskin" seat covers got started?

My buddy's car, Ferrari 250 GTO 3387, had blue seats. I thought it was quite odd myself.
