I saw a black F50 sell for 3.135m at RM in Arizona. Is this a new record high for a F50? Stunning car.

Yes, as I commented elsewhere, this looks to be the record.

What percentage of the sale price was due to the color in your opinion? 10%??

RM said it was one of only 2 F50's finished in Black that are US Spec. 349 cars I think is very limited and the 55 or so US F50's I would think are extremely limited. If there is believed to be only 2 Black US spec F50s I think that would be possibly a once in a life time opportunity. I heard the other US black F50 has 30k+ miles.....

Look at what the Matte Black LaFerrari did at Mecum in Monterey. $4.7 Hammer and $5.1 with the fee....

And the other US-spec Black F50 has a very storied history compared to this one, including more than one unfortunate entry in its dossier. It's also no longer in the USA so you could argue this car that was sold by RM is effectively one-of-one now.

That F50 was in a major accident where the dealer did not fit properly the Tubi style exhaust and the fumes went in the cockpit and the driver literally passed out at around 90mph. He suffered major injuries.

To be clear, this is the other US F50; not the car that RM just sold.

#104799 came back to the U.S. for a few months in 2016. It's now once again domiciled in Europe.

    It has covered circa-62,000 miles.

Please excuse my ignorance : How does an open cockpit car fill with enough fumes to make the driver pass out?

What a horrible experience to imagine.

When he released the damaged car to the insurance company, he "forgot" to supply the hardtop . . .

    Greg,

I wasn't there, but, my understanding was that the accident occurred with the roof off.

    Certainly, photographic evidence supports this.

Furthermore, there are a number of videos being posted by various YouTubers that suggest that the car was being used prior to the accident with the roof off.

Here are some of them with various eye-catching titles such as "Ferrari F50 Flying over Bridge in NYC" and my personal favorite: "Lamborghini Aventador near collision with Ferrari F50".

Wow, those videos are insane Joe! Thanks for posting. I think it's a miracle he didn't kill anyone. Never seen anyone drive so irresponsible and aggresive on public roads with traffic.

I know based on the law suit that the fumes from an erroneous exhaust set up caused the accident. I imagined it had to be off to cause someone to pass out!

This wasn't the car that was owned by a Ohio collector was it? If so I saw it in person back in November.
