My daughters (9 & 13) and I were roughhousing this weekend and I got an elbow in the eye. Result? Ye Olde Blacke Eyee. Not a massive shiner, but definately black under the right eye.

So my question is this: I realise a black eye is essentially a bruise, what's the best way to aid in the recovery? Creams? Salves? Ice was put on it less than a minute after the incident.

    Suggestions?

Having had a few black eyes, time. If it hurts and is swelling, ice.

I actually got a black eye from having my wisdom teeth removed. Black eyes are unfortunate, but as long as you have no blurry vision or worse it's just a visible wound.

You could always apply some of your wifes make-up to cover it up. :D

Oh Thooper! I'd be so pretty! *bats eyes*

No thanks, I'd rather suffer and have people ask what happened. ;) I just wish it'd heal and be done with it.

Ok, so 16 days after the black eye occured, it now only looks like a shadow, like I didn't get much sleep the night before. I'm sure in another week it'll be gone (hopefully).
