This last weekend I took my 348 to my brother's place in Loveland to do some high altitude driving along with his Lotus Elise.
We got up early Friday morning to head out, and when I pulled out of his garage I noticed I had a bit of an oil leak. I had not had any leaks since I got my car out of the shop here in Colorado Springs, but I had changed the oil just a few days before leaving for Loveland.
Only thing I could figure was that I had not properly tightened the oil drain bolt at the front of the motor (I really need to get a good torque wrench...).
While the leak was only slight, and checking the dip stick showed I had proper oil level, I was not stoked about taking it over Trail Ridge Road (over 12,000ft) with a possible loose drain bolt. So, after having doughnuts in Estes Park, we looked up a close local shop that was just around the corner from the doughnut shop. We stopped there and he said his lift was not low enough for my car, so he recommend "Mountain Imports" just a short distance away.
Once we got there, I let the owner know what I thought my problem was, and he immediately took a car off the "drive on" lift, and let me at my car with his tools. While I started in on my car taking off the pan, my brother noticed all of the British cars in the shop, and Lotus sign on the wall and found out the owner/mechanic had just restored a 66 Elan and it was back at his house. My brother tossed him the keys to his Elise and they went to go have a look.
Meanwhile, it thankfully WAS a the drain bolt on my 348. I snugged it up, got the pan back on, and was back off the lift all in less than 25 min.

I was so relieved that it was something so simple (definite lesson learned) and the rest of the day was a total blast. A Ferrari in the mountains is a beautiful thing.

So, thank you Mountain Imports for your kindness.
