Been a long time since I thought about BG products. We used to use them extensively back in the 70-80's then that EPA stuff started they reformulated things and were just average.

Any poop I spoke to an old friend and told me about 44K, how MB was testing with it showing great results in the hot rod AMG stuff

So tried it. Filled up the tank to about 3/4, 2 cans of BG. Immediately took it for a long ride ( it evaporates if you dont) down the hwy and through the mountains maybe 200 miles I just dont look at that thing on the dashboard. A few redline pulls maybe 5-6 kept it in the 4-6000rpm range all day.
Car ran real nice after about 30 min

Came home pulled the plugs, they were clean and looked new. Cleaner then the week before when I did a leakdown. The carbon at the base of the plug was gone.
Anyway my numbers were about the 5-10% loss. Today they were much better
This stuff really works quite well for the Italian tuneup.

These are the same results my friend said they were getting before ripping into an engine for no reason just to find carbon buildup

5-10% down to this across the board
These cars need to be driven

    :)

I used to be in love with their "extreme pressure concentrate" and those cute little plastic disks on the bottom of the can you could cash in LOL

How come you used 2 cans?
Thought one treated 75 litres of fuel.

I always like to double up on an extreme treatment if I am going to run the tank empty then fill it back up again. Get's if off to a good start

Loosens all the gargaho's then does it's normal cleaning

BG has always been effective of getting carbon out, years back cars would carbon knock sounding just like a bad rod and this was one of the ways to dissipate it along with a steam treatment.

So you use one can in around 75 ltrs of fuel in the tank
    Run until tank almost empty
    Refill with 75 ltrs
    Dump in second can

    Right?

    No LOL

I fill tank to about 3/4 full

Dump 2 cans in the tank

    Drive until almost empty

    Refill tank and drive normally

You want to high strength solution running through the system all that same day as put in then dilute with more gas when your done

    ---------------

We used to have a machine from BG that mixed the cleaner with gas and we would hook the car up to it and run it through a cycle of soak/run. I cant remember the exact ratios but it was like 2 to 1 fuel-cleaner, boy howdy it sure cleaned it.
This was before they changed the formula
Delco makes a super strength cleaner if you want I can go dig some up I know I have a case here somewhere. Its made to be run not in the tank for deep cleaning

    edit

This is the delco stuff. It will melt your fingernails really good stuff DOES NOT GO IN THE TANK

I love New England! Late spring with the flowers, summer and sailing on Long Island Sound, and fall is fantastic with the foliage. Not to mention no shortage of water. The down side is that much of it comes in frozen form. :)

Tim. If you want to sell one of those old school leak down testers you have two of, please let me know. That's what tony at algar used when I had a ppi done there. I'm serious

I got a.ct and ld tester and haven't used them but when I did the ppi on that car I walked from tbAt was asked if tony, using a product like you arre talking about to which he did not reply positive. That car would have been a great test subject on this topic.

Weather wise, 99 degrees. Clear. Here in nj. Going down to the beach for a walk...

Can someone post the contents list of BG44?

I want to see if it contains (I think) Naptha the same way seafoam does.

    Thanks

Sorry but the Suns are mine had them a long time each is setup for something different. You may be able to find one on ebay

No I would never use this as a repair just when you get an issue you think is carbon related is give it a try. With modern computers when you get carbon buildup the knock sensors tell the car to make less power all they way down to what we call a limp mode.

99 degrees? YIKES 80 here with 40% humidity and I am complaining, Normal is 70 and 10% humidity

    :)

There is a new product from CRC call GDI IVD.

Gasoline Direct Injection Intake Valve Deposit cleaner.

It is a spray injected through the throttle body designed to deal with intake valve carbon buildup issues on DI engines where it is a common problem because no fuel hits the valves to wash them down.

I have no experience with this product but it sounds like it would make a good 1 - 2 punch combined with Socal's method.

I bought a can for my Audi S5 but haven't tried it yet.

Also, am I correct that the Italian tuneup aided by this chemical treatment could only possibly correct an issue related to carbon deposits on intake valves?

That is high leakdown due to an exhaust valve issue will not benefit from this procedure.
