I recently looked at purchasing a Ferrari from Dominick. I read the reviews on other sights about their unwillingness to refund deposits. Before I agreed to put a deposit on a car I made sure to discuss with Dominick if the PPI was not to my liking, for their black F430, that he would refund my money. They would not put it in writing which I should have forced them to, but they did verbally agree. The PPI was not to my liking and they took over 3 weeks to refund my deposit. I would be very careful about conducting business with them. They do not exhibit he professionalism you would expect from someone dealing in Exotics. I had to threaten them with reporting to the BBB etc. Only when I personally flew to Dallas did they refund my money. I ended up buying from Boardwalk Ferrari and couldn't be happier.

All's well that ends well I suppose. I've heard many bad things about Texas Import so wouldn't even bother going there regardless of how tempting it might be. I choose to do business only with those who operate in good faith and value relationships. From my limited experience, the guys at Boardwalk do just that...they only get good reviews around here. Glad things worked out for you in the end!

I've bought my last 3 cars from the same place for the reasons Wade mentions. They're low stress, low hassle, no haggle.

Nice to know who to stay away from.

    Elchico78,

Was the black F430 you speak about convertible with black rims and looks lowered? If so, what did the PPI reveal?

I would not deal with them especially if they would not honor a simple refund problem. Imagine if you have a bigger problem. I hope people will learn from this experience.

Do not buy from this agent. It is a nightmare and horrible experienced when I deal with this dealer. IT IS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE.

I bought a 2012 BMW 750LI from this dealer recently and trade in my 2007 MB S 550 to them.

When going to loan process , they said and agreed to paid off my previous car that I trade with them which the loan balance approx. $ 2400. I signed and got loan from the in 04/23/2013. But I just found out they did not pay off my previous loan till today (06/03/2013 ), the problem is they did not paid off my previous loan and not even telling me anything which already missed 1 month payment which damaged my credit. When I called them why they did not follow agreement , all they said is they are not want to damaged my credit but they want me to pay $ 1340 for the car I trade in because there has some ding and dents. Come on, I trade my " USED CAR " not trade them a new car. To me all I can say is they try all the best to find all kind the excuses to get the extra money from you. THEY ARE DISHONEST.

This is an update to my 06/04 review. I rec'd a call and e-mails from the sales mgr after my poor review of them. He took care of my issues promptly and made sure I’m satisfied . Now I’m happy with their resolved and happy with their services.

    Hello Ferrari Chat members;

My name is Adam & I'm the general manager at Texas Import Sales.

I would like to address an issue with a previous potential client that we unfortunately were not able to earn his business.

This is in reference to a Black F430 Spider. The client posted a negative remark on the chat that I want to address because I'm very aware of the incident.

The potential client placed a $500 deposit on the vehicle pending a satisfactory pre-purchase inspection (PPI). Upon the completion of the PPI, Boardwalk Ferrari indicated that the vehicle had a lowered professionally installed custom suspension & HRE black wheel package.

They advised the potential client that they needed to replace some parts to ensure no damage to the wheel wells would occur which was only an attempt to try & profit from the PPI that they performed. We in turn took the vehicle to an independent Ferrari specialist for a second opinion which revealed that nothing was needed to be performed.

Either way we offered to have the $1,000 repair performed at the Ferrari dealership to ensure his satisfaction.

The client then told our salesperson (Dominick) that he would like to fly out to confirm if the Ferrari dealer was legitimate in their findings.

The client did fly into Dallas not to give us the opportunity to prove the findings illegitimate but to take delivery of the vehicle he purchased from Boardwalk; afterwards he came by & requested his deposit back which we refunded on the spot.

I'm available to answer any questions or concerns anyone might have. Our purpose is to sell quality vehicles & build a lasting relationship with our clients. We will always honor our word & that's the Texas way of doing business.

1st post but long time member.

I went to Texas Import Sales a few months ago to look at a 360. looked at the car and asked for a test drive. salesman was nice but didn't seem very familiar with the car. he took me for a short spin and then let me drive it the short distance back to the shop.

it was a very walk on egg shells kind of drive. he was very cautious and that made me be very cautious driving the car back, looking for every dip ect.

we got the car back and it wouldn't start again. Adam the manager was called over to check on the problem. apparently the salesman didn't know how to work the fob.

Adam got the car started and I asked him for another drive as he seemed more comfortable around these cars. I told him the previous drive was just around the block and if we could go for a longer drive. he said take it as far as you like. we went for about a 15 minute drive almost to boardwalk and back.

anyway he let me drive it how I wanted for as long as I wanted. when we got back he asked me if there was a problem with the salesman he would take care of it for me. I said no the guy was a bit timid and unfamiliar with the car was all.

i was handed back over to the salesman and it was a painless process from there. I had a trade in, they gave me a fair deal and the car has been great. satisfied customer. I wouldn't hesitate to send someone to them or do business with them again.

We sold the client a 2012 BMW 750Li & took his 2007 Mercedes S550 on trade. The client lives up in the northeast & wanted to ship the cars so he doesn't have to make the drive to Dallas, however he needed a car to drive so we shipped him the BMW we sold him first & once the vehicle arrived the same transported picked-up the Mercedes he traded in. Out of good faith we used the information he gave us to asses the value of his trade. Unfortunately when the Mercedes arrived it had significant body & paint damage that was not disclosed. We immediately contacted the client to inform him of the discrepancy & requested a $1,200 adjustment to help with the repairs needed to bring the vehicle to the condition represented by him. To be clear; the vehicle that was traded in was a 2007 with over 90k miles so our expectations weren't high at all, however the damage was much more than just "normal wear & tear". Upon us contacting the client he immediately told us that "it's a used car; what do you expect!" & did not offer any assistance thinking that we had no re-course. At the end the issue was resolved to both party's satisfaction. The buyer is enjoying his BMW 750Li & is happy with our service.

Upon revolving the issue with the client us "Texas Import Sales" immediately sent the payoff to the bank & paid any late fees (if any) & additional interest charged by the bank. The client's credit was never damaged or dinged because everything was handled in a timely manner. A tip: the bank only reports derogatory information to the credit agencies after two payments have been missed & the account is pas due 60 days. As long as the bank is aware that a vehicle has been traded in then they don't take any action unless they don't receive the payoff within 60 days. We never wait this long but the reason it was delayed is explained in the thread we posted in response to a member's question about the 2012 BMW 750Li subject.

    Interesting bump.

I'll just chime in and say my business partner and I went up to Texas Import Sales and were treated quite well. He prearranged to look at a MB SL, and an AM Vantage. When we arrived, greeted, handed both keys, and that was it. We test drove each, took our time, chatted with the GM, then went back to Austin. A week or two later, he traveled back to Texas Import Sales and purchased the AM Vantage. It's been a stellar car ever since, and no issues with the dealership.

Here it is the day of the test drive, in front of their facility.

I'm glad this seems to have been all worked out. I have seen their cars on eBay and have been interested in a few, unfortunately they don't deal with classic's so nothing ever came form my inquires. But am relieved to know they are ok to deal with possibly in the future?
