which one's the best? I want to give it a try.
Whitening toothpaste doesn't help at all. It only stays in your mouth a couple minutes, doesn't cover evenly, etc.... those Crest whitening strips are supposed to be good though. Not eating a lot of junk food helps too.
The best toothpaste is the new Crest ProHealth, it has whitening plus actually cleans your whole mouth really well. If you just want to get your teeth really white really fast, you should ask your dentist about bleech and/or laser treatments. The laser get's your teeth the whitest, a girlfriend of mine did it and they look great, but it's expensive and not very good for your teeth.
How does the laser work? Never heard of using lasers to whiten teeth. Does it just incinerate the top layer?
http://www.aboutcosmeticdentistry.com/procedures/teeth_whitening/laser_procedure.html Ya, I've heard that it takes off a layer of your enamel, and if you do it too many times it will eventually ruin your original teeth. You can have it done to different extremes, my friend did the level called "Hollywood White" which I think is the most you can do. Her teeth look stunning, but she constantly has to keep them clean and white because it is not something you want to have to do again.
The descriptions on the site make the laser treatment and the conventional in-office treatment sound very similar. Both use a light accelerated gel in one form or another.
I swear by Crest Whitestrips! I use them twice per week (as opposed to twice per day because they make my teeth too sensitive that way!)
Bah, whitening toothpaste dosnt work, been there tried that so i gave up.. just go to the dentist people, and get them to fix your teeth up
First it is not a laser, it is an simple UV light and this will not remove layers of enamel either. In office whitening like "Zoom" is perfectly safe. The best whitening toothpaste is Rembrant's Plus. (I think Oral B bought them out so it may be under their name now). I like it because it has a little higher level of peroxide and is non abrasive. Of course this alone will not make a big difference in the color of your teeth, but it does enhance other treatments and helps (however little) maintain a lighter color.
Yep! Rembrant plus is amazing...well worth the price. Here in So cal if you find them at a target they are like 5.99, compared to the 7.99 they were last year.
Why are you asking about dental issues on a Ferrari forum? If you want to reach a wider spectrum of dentists you should be asking this question in a Porsche forum.
I remember Brock Yates mentioning something about orthodontists and Ferraris back during the post Enzo death price craze
The dentist told me to gargle with hydrogen peroxide (mixed with water) not that long ago for a slight infection and my teeth got freakin WHITE in like 2 days. I've also had the trays made at the dentist and they bleached out nice. RMX
My father is an orthadontic and cosmetic dentistry surgeun, and he says the best quik treatment is ultrawhitebright where they take a small layer of bleech on your teeth and put ultraviolent lightover it to dry. laser treatment is a no-no, that is a gingevitis risk, laser treatment is only for people who have plaque growing plaque all over thier teeth. This is my dads cosmetic dentistry site http://www.sparklesteethwhitening.com/index.htm And this is my dads Corperation site http://www.skdentallab.com/ as far as best results with whiting toothpaste (I would know, my dad brings home crates every day for me cus I'm his test rat) Crest pro-whiting power with baking soda, and colgate ultra-whiting. I like crest better overall.
yeah your right, people do run when I smile. There are now like 30 of my friends walking around with eye patchs and sticks.
Here's the skinny on tooth whitening... Whitening toothpaste does NOTHING. Whitestrips actually work pretty decently. Home bleaching with a dentist-made custom tray and professionally dispensed whitening gel will give you the best and longest lasting results. And, here's the big spoiler: Lasers and lights do NOTHING to whiten teeth. They don't take any layers of enamel off. They don't whiten teeth. They don't "activate" bleaching gel. Lasers and other cool looking lights are nothing more than HYPE. Independent studies have proven this. If you use the "power bleaching gel" and shade one half from the light while the other half is exposed to the light, you will get the SAME whitening result on both sides. The only possible effect of the light on teeth is dehydration, which can give a whiter appearance. But, that effect disappears as soon as the teeth rehydrate. So... why does the profession use these "lasers" and neato-keeno lights? Marketing, baby. The public LOVES lasers and other whiz-bang gizmos. Does the "laser bleaching" work? Absolutely. It's just not the laser doing it. It's the high-concentration peroxide doing the whitening. The good side of in-office power-bleaching (with or without light) is that it's a quick result. The downside is that it's not a long-lasting result. And, most power-bleaching systems highly recommend following up at home with custom tray bleaching. Go figure. I do not offer "laser" bleaching in my office. I feel it's deceptive marketing. I do offer power bleaching (no light), and it works to "kickstart" home bleaching quite nicely. Bleaching efficacy is directly proportional to the TIME of exposure and CONCENTRATION of the bleaching material. So, in-office power bleaching (with or without lasers) achieves the result via a high-concentration bleaching material. However, the contact-time is short, so the effects do not penetrate the teeth very far. Accordingly, the longevity of the result is short. And, so they recommend following up with home tray bleaching. CYA for the laser folks. And, that is why home tray bleaching is the BEST and longest lasting result. The caveat is that you have to wear a pesky tray for an hour or two each day for two weeks. Mike - dentist for 18 years with a focus on cosmetic treatment.
