I will be going on a vacation to Italy and Greece next summer (2016) and I am trying to work out the factory tour and all things Ferrari in a couple of days but before I go there we will be in Milan and I want to rent something like a 458 and cruise through some of the mountain roads a few hours north of Milan. I thought I had found a great source when i found this site -

    Contact Us | P1 Europe

I filled out their form and the next day someone contacted me just to make sure I was serious. They assured me I would get a call back in 15 minutes. The guy who called had no details. The rental rate on their website seems in the reasonable range but I could not find out anything else - like insurance rates and if there was a mileage limit. A week after the first guy called - he called back but no one else. He still knew nothing but was passing it on. Starting to sound fishy. I had skipped over a couple of other sites that had a ridiculous 200 km per day limit.

So the question is - if anyone has had a great experience with someone they can recommend and any idea on the hidden costs that none of them seem to want to include on the front end or they just prefer to surprise you after you get there.

I would love to know more to make sure it is a bright spot of our vacation - not a blemish.
    Thanks

I used these guys to rent a Ferrari California for my wedding and honeymoon in Italy. They brought it to my hotel in Florence, I then took it to Montalcino for our wedding and then we drive her up to Portofino and into France and ultimately they met us in Avignon where I returned her. Super flexible and accommodating. No cheap through. http://www.primerentcar.com

My wife and I rented a 458 Italia for 3 days in France last summer from Europe Luxury Car Hire. They delivered it to our hotel in Cannes. Unbelievable experience. But extremely expensive. It was around $1800 a day if you include the extra miles (which you will inevitably put on the car!). Hey you only live once - rent it, enjoy it and don't think about how crazy spending that kind of money on a rental car is.

We didn't own a Ferrari before that, but as soon as we got back to the States we decided we had to own one of these things and went and got 360!

I got ripped off with Europe luxury car hire. Please take caution.
I wired money for a 458 spider back in 2012. On the day of my arrival in Monaco they called to say the spider was no longer available but that they could offer a r8 instead. I told them I really had my mind set on the Ferrari so I think I would just like a refund.
To date I have never received the refund. When I call I just get routed from person to person.

Thanks for the info. I am hoping to find a source to rent for a couple of days. A couple of hours just wouldn't be worth it - I would not want to give it back:). 100 km is only 65 miles - that is not very far. But, who knows what I may have to settle with in the end. Anyway, was this price all-inclusive or did they have other surprise charges when you arrived? Thanks again - i am collecting as much info as I can.

So sorry to hear of your problems - that is what I am afraid of with P1 now that I see that they do not seem to handle customer communications very well on the front end - I would anticipate that it is only worse after they get my money.:)

New inquiry, same request....may be traveling to northern Italy. Any updated suggestions for places to rent a Ferrari? I have an F430 spider so am thinking of renting same, though may consider something new/er.

Turo here in the states I've had really good experience with, anything like that in Italy?

    Thank you in advance!

Back in 2010, my cousin rented 3 Ferraris for an hour, a 355, 430 and 458 for three of us. He used Pushstart in Piazza Museo Maranello.
I was there last year with an Italian friend, and chatted with one of the guys, who was my guardian when I drove the 458. They were not cheap.

I rented a few times before buying mine,

    There are two rental options:

The Maranello hourly … expect to pay up to a few hundred per hour and spend part of your time driving in town on your way out. Links were posted.

The daily rental agencies, for a 458 you should pay about 1100-1500 per day, 150-200km and 4-6eu per additional km, insurance co pay will be 15-25,000 in case of damages.

If you plan on driving many km … try negotiate a weekly rate, if you drive as many as I did, pre buy your km.

Make sure you rent from a company and not a middleman or service (asking what year / color / km / vin will help weed these), if they aren’t responsive at the sale stage, run!, don’t wire money, use credit card, video around and under the car with the flash light on before taking delivery and return.

I'm looking to rent one in Florence in early August. Honestly I just want a day to drive from Florence to Maranello and back and enjoy a car for the day. Any suggestions for Florence rentals?

    Highly not recommended.

Rented a 488 in Tuscany in 3Q2021. The rental agency went-over the car with me with an extremely fine-tooth comb. Any minuscule (paint chip, etc) damage would be my responsibility. Before taking the keys, there was a temporary $30K deposit on my AMEX Platinum.

Save the potential headache and drive your Ferrari state-side.

Would NEVER EVER do it again. Learned my lesson.

Excellent choice. This route is fantastic for such the car and Ferrari often test drive in the mountains South of Valley Po.
But they cannot continue as you, so please find they way to Greve and the Chianti zone!

    Hi all,

same question different year. I'm going to Florence in May. I see both https://www.pushstart.it/ and https://www.pitlaneredpassion.com/ offer a GTC4 Lusso starting at 140 euros, but the former gives more details about other options. Are these still solid options? If I can visit the museum in Maranello and drive a V12 Ferrari the same day, I'd say 2024 was worth it :)

I got back a few months ago

Was considering it, specifically driving a Ferrari from Venice to Maranello, Glad I didn't as there would not have been much opportunity to enjoy it and cameras everywhere for speeding.

If you know of an enjoyable, unmonitored route and will have the extra time to enjoy it, could be worthwhile

Don't mean to be a downer, just sharing what I experienced.

That's interesting I am planning to do that exact route but from Maranello to Venice instead...I know there alot of cameras still might be worth to experience,
did you end up renting a Ferrari at all?

I did not. It really just didn't fit in with our trip.

If I were to plan a day with one, in Maranello, it seemed there were several places that offered a driving experience. I would probably plan an extra day just to do that (rent one and go on some enjoyable drives).

That, or find a place in an area I was interested in driving (probably Tuscany) and spend a day with the car. Trying to squeeze it in, imho, is just rushed and too impractical.

Your opinion and experience may vary!

Side note, parking in Maranello anywhere near the factory was a bit of a nightmare, its pretty crazy right around the factory, swarming with cars and people, we got lucky and found a street spot that was a 15 min walk from the factory. And that was the off season, can't imagine the busier times of year.

There is a considerable demand for parking spots due to the people who work there.
