I am looking for the best tire inflation gun for my air compressor.

I have the Griot's Garage one and am disappointed in it.

My 575 has hard to reach stems (need to use valve stems to inflate today) I'd like a gun that can inflate and tell me pressure without needing the stems.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I never trust those things. I like to use a minimal inflation head and then a trusted pressure gauge to back the pressure down into spec.

EDIT: I was going to post a pic of a great gauge from LongAcre but then I saw they have this! I bet this would work very well if its done as well as their incredible pressure gauges.

Thanks, so I should be able to maneuver that head onto the shallow stem? I was hoping for something with a longer chuck.

On my way home from work today, I stopped by Harbor Freight so I could inflate my tires (hadn't seen responses yet) and picked this up. I know its crap and want a real tool (but it was $10):

Dual Chuck Tire Inflator with Dial Gauge

Should I just buy the one referenced earlier or is there a quality long one?

    Thanks!

Thanks! I ordered the Longacre. They said I couldn't get that chuck as thread pitch is different. I will try their angled one and deal with it from there.

For the record, they did offer to custom adapt it but said it would be very expensive.

As always, thanks all for the good advice.

I got the Harbor Freight one--works fine and good enough for non-business owner I think.

I have not encountered a Ferrari stem that the Longacre will not fit and work well. The style of the chuck on the HF gauge is designed for trucks with dual wheels so you can easily check the inner and outer. They work on most Ferrari wheels. They can be easily exchanged if desired.

Good move. The Longacre is a nice piece of gear that will feel good every time you use it. The harbor gear will break when you need it.

The more hot rod catalogs like JEGS have good pressure gauges too.
    You bought the right one.

Joe! C'mon Joe. I can feel a difference in my car if my tires are 1.5 lbs low. Put that Longacre on your Christmas list. It's right around the corner.

Enlightment me... what's wrong with a digital pressure gauge?

Nothing is wrong with digital one. We live in 21st century where evertthibg is digital. It is really accurate. In fact a few years ago racecar engineering had a small article comparing all kind of tire pressure gauge and the most accurate ones...... The cheap digital one.

I owned 4 different top rated ones from different manufacturers. All voltage sensitive. Their readings were directly proportional to available battery power. Manufacturers bought every one back and never even offered an explanation. It was as though they expected it.

My mechanicals never, not once caused me trouble and certainly not from a battery at 75% power.

I agree that a digital gauge can be very accurate. But my experience with them is same. After they age, their readings become variable. Battery condition seems to affect them. I tossed my digital units in the trash and rely on a couple of dial indicator gauges.

I do like the looks of that Longacre unit with the combined filler, gauge, and bleed valve.
