I'm going out with some buddies this coming Saturday for steaks. Any recommendations? I've been to Manny's twice in the past few months and to be honest, haven't been overly impressed.

    How's Murray's? Capital Grill? Ruths?

I go to MSP every month and just started getting acquainted with St. Paul for the first time. Stayed at Saint Paul Hotel and ate at The Saint Paul Grille downstairs which was hoppin' and the steak was on par with what I had a Manny's on a prior trip, which is to say quite good.

How is the Grille generally regarded locally? How about the hotel?

Try Pazaluna's - right next to St. Paul Hotel. Great place. One of my favorites.

Unfortunately, we don't really have a truly great steakhouse here anymore. The quality of Manny's has really dropped off since their move- you can get the same thing at half the price at Pittsburgh Blue in Maple Grove.

We do have a Ruth's Chris, and a Capital Grill. As aforementioned, Kincaid's is a safe option, but in my opinion, it's not going to blow you away. Morton's was pretty good (I think their hartford, ct location is fantastic), but their minneapolis location has been closed for a while...

I'm going to Capital Grill tomorrow. Been there before, but don't remember much. It's been awhile.

The kona crusted steak at Capital Grille is my favorite of their offerings... Give it a shot if you haven't tried it.

Go to Gasthof Zur Gemutlichkeit and see if you can polish off their 1 meter bratwurst.

It is a dining experience you should try at least once. Bring your appetite and another couple or two to enjoy the dining. It is all you can eat with many different kinds of meat such as steak, pork, chicken, lamb. Try them all and then fill up on the ones you like such as the filet mignon. The salad bar is good and the deserts are pretty darn good. The Key lime pie is my favorite. Make reservations when dining in the evening. I heard that if you go early around noon or so before the dinner hours starts the price is about half for the same menu (would have to verify this first). The wine list has a lot of choices. It's been about 3 years since I've been there and then it was around $50 per person. I use the valet parking. It is much easier for me than driving around to find a ramp or lot.
