Maybe you were let down because of the lunch at Per Se? Perhaps if you had a Big Mac Nobu would have seemed better :p

Yang Ming up the street from Algar Ferrari is very very good.

But the Duck at Second Empire in Raleigh NC has to be one of the most devine foods I have ever ingested.

Inn at Little Washington can be hit/miss. Mother's Day was a clusterfck. Other days were quite excellent. I prefer Restaurant Eve in Alexandria.

The best restaurant I've been to though would likely be Chevre d'Or in Eze, France.

I'm going on a trip later this year which will include Yokosuka, Japan, Chinhae, South Korea and Singapore. I'm trying to actually get around all of these places and experience more than just the clubs and buy-me-drinky bars. I've been to all of these places before, but I didn't really find any food that was noteworthy. I think this time I'm going to try and eat at good restaurants before going out drinking.
Japan did have Habu Sake, which was amazing and caused me to forget quite a bit of time spent there. Tokyo was a nice place, but I was just out drinking.
South Korea was cool, and I think I ate cat. What they said was cat was delicious, by the way.
Singapore had a lot of nice restaurants, but nothing that really impressed me. I think I spent a couple too many evenings at the Orchard Towers while I was there. Turns out, they call that place the "Four floors of whores" for a reason. Who would have thought?

Anyway, all of you seem well traveled and more experienced than I am. Any suggestions?

Looked it up... Nice place... My jaw actually has broken off... I looked at how much it would cost to reserve the Presidential suite for one person for a week and it told me I needed to sell my soul first...

You know, I've driven past that place as long as I can remember (back when they were on PCH), but I've never stopped in. I'll have to try it sometime.

Beyond the food and service, Le Cinq was the most stunningly beautiful restaurant I've ever been in.......my wife was particularly fond of the Champagne Trolly. ;)

+1 for Hibiscus in Dallas. Great food, top notch service and a very laid back atmosphere. One of the larger investors in Consilient Restaurants (the company that that owns Hibiscus) is the owner of Boardwalk Ferrari here in Dallas. If you want to go big get the lobster a l'orange as an appetizer. :D IF they have the Osso Buco as a special I highly recommend it.

One of my favorites locally since I found it about a year or so ago is Suze. It's a very small dining room but the food and service is phenomenal. Easily the best fois gras I have ever had. The quail appetizer is also worth a try. There are lots of great entrees but I always find myself ordering the espresso cured Cervena venison.

I think you mean to say 'Kinkead's', when was the last time you were there? They've dropped a notch since the 90's. They're still pretty decent now, but not like they used to be.

Obelisk in Dupont Circle is still outstanding.

Tony- You are right on spelling. Late 90s last time I ate there. Tivoli recently and their Pistachio-Crusted Grouper is really excellent. Even if not normally on the menu, it can be ordered. Ask for Tony, naturally.

OK I'll admit I have been out of the loop, but where is it?

My all time best was a little place called JAX...doesn't exist any longer...very small, run by a Frenchman and his wife...Country French done right at very reasonable prices...I really miss that place...ofthentimes my ex and I were there only customers for the night, it became like a family meal...good times...
