My car is ready to go back together, I need to order a head gasket, the smaller gaskets I can get from ebay. I have seen prices from 195 US to over 400 for a single head gasket alone, but most wont ship to canada. I have looked at allferrariparts.com and superperformance.co.uk, any other suggestions?

Whatever you do do not use Elring (the OE supplier) head gaskets. They are now made in Spain with profoundly different materials.

I ended up getting all the gaskets I needed from ferrari parts exchange for around $400 US. :)

What model do you have. I have some left over gaskets that I haven’t used (bought for my major on my 348)

I would have given Dave Rocks a shout. He has a connection at the factory and can get great deals on parts.

If you had a problem you would have found out the minute you poured water in it. It is ongoing. Elring shifts production to Spain when the cars get old enough to be considered non current by their definition.

Another great product turned to crap by multinationalisim.

Brian, other than Elring, what other choices do we have for 355 engine head gaskets?
I did a couple valve jobs over last year and I remember getting Elring gaskets … thankfully without any problem.

I have mine custom made to my specs by a gasket maker and they cost far less than Elrings but I don't sell them. Good news is all V8 gaskets from 308 to 360 are the same with different bore sizes. I think Dave Helms is selling good head gaskets.

Perhaps you can share who your custom gasket maker is …. so we can buy it from them? I hate to pay $500 each for a Ferrari head gasket ($1000 for a set) and get … junk in a yellow horsie bag.

Pressure test it. When this problem with Elring first started I was doing an F40 engine and so was a friend in another part of the country. He called to ask if I had pressure tested it yet and I told him I never do. Never in all these years been an issue and I spent a few of those years just building exotic engines. Well I rigged it up for a test and filled it with water. No need to put pressure to it, water ran out on the floor. I took the heads back off and looked. he new composite material used in the Spanish factory is so hard it will not allow the liners to compress it so it can seal the deck surface. We told Elring but they didn't care. I suspect in a non wet liner engine they work fine. Thats when Dave went into the head gasket business. Problem is you never know anymore what the gasket origin is. If they are NOS they could be from the Fatherland. Elring is just one more formerly great company fallen victim to saving a buck at our expense.

These are OEM Ferrari 355 (2.7) bought 2-3 years back. They have metal sealing areas to contact the liner tops. So what do I have?

Some kind of head gasket from the looks of it.

All head gaskets have metal fire rings. I am unaware of any cosmetic difference. Install it and torque the head on. Then I can tell the difference.

Then test it for leaks. If it seals I believe Brian said they are good then.
    Maybe you can confirm Brian?

Dave Helms says they do not have gaskets, checked 5 minutes ago. Am I reading correct that the older Elring gaskets from Germany are fine it is the new Spanish Elring gaskets with issues?

Check with GT Parts. I have been pretty lucky there. I think my 348 head gaskets were $195 or so.

Spanish or German Elring gaskets? Found German ones but they are 20+ years old and they have a shelf life.
