Hello all, I have an '85 308 QV GTS, which I bought last year. I knew there were a few minor paint issues when I bought it, but I have had loads of conflicting advice about what to do and where to get it done. Since I am not a Ferrari expert, I thought maybe this community would be a good place to search for a consensus about who is the "Daddy" for Ferrari paint in the South East. I am based in Sussex but will travel! Appreciate help! J
If you really mean the best then money is no object in favour of quality which case you could talk to Mototechnique Barkaways or Bodytechnics .
Speak to Kevin at Mototechnique, they did my LM and you can see the result in http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/288gto-f40-f50-enzo-laferrari/396915-f40-lm-restoration.html
Agree with above also Ross Packard in New Milton. He did my Dad's 330GTS and Iso Grifo (pic on Ross Packard's website Ross Packard - Home
If you are happy to have it shipped then Al at Alsa Automotive in Wales is well known for his Ferrari paintwork, and not SE prices either
We could suggest many folk outside OP's criteria of SE but anyway my understanding is Al is out of the car business now
I also heard Al was no longer in the car business but saw a recent thread which contradicts that, with photos of recent work on Ferrari's. More info the merrier, gives the OP lots of options to choose from then
Had a bare metal on my 308 done by Kevin at Mototechnique a few years ago. The work was great but the cost is top end. I recently had a respray of my 993 porsche at Precision Porsche's bodyshop (Impact) and they were very good too. I'm not sure if they would do a ferrari but their facilites are top end and they do a lot of expensive stuff however the price tag is more reasonable. You can give Sam Corke a shout: Tel: +44 (0) 1825 721 200 Precision - Independent Porsche specialists for Sussex and the South East If I need to do a front bumper respray on the 355 in future, I will likely take it there.
I recently had some very good work done by Ty at Riviera Autobodies just south of Reading. Very happy to recommend him. He does a lot of Porsche restorations but also has Ferrari experience. I also know a couple of others who use him and speak highly of his work. Sensible prices. Riviera Autobody » Classic, Sports and Luxury Car Body Repair Specialists in Reading, Berkshire Best Francis
it would be worth giving Simon Furlonger a call in Ashford, as he is an indy for high end Ferrari's and I am sure he will use a top painter
Thanks all, Going to slowly work through the recommendations. Likely to get a range of opinions about best way forward. Car is already in fantastic condition mechanically and structurally. Previous owner really put the hours in. But eventually needs a paint job to match the rest of the car. It's not that it's bad. Its just that it's not perfect. Will post findings and plans in due course. Really appreciate the advice J
I'm going to say , having seen the results from most of the paint shops recommended in this thread so far, that all pale into insignificance when compared to Shaun Hayward at Hayward Classics (formerly known as Panelcraft Elite), in Headcorn Kent (just moved to this new site from his previous address in Sittingbourne) This is the company that the high end Ferrari and Lamborghini dealers use when they want the very best concours job done ..... if your lucky enough to have him accept your car, there will probably be a long wait to get the car back , as he is in the highest demand. There's your 'Daddy'!! Was fortunate enough to have my Dino GTS done by him a couple of Years ago .... He took 3 months alone, to get the right shade of Azzurro Metalizzatto 106a32 with PPG! Here; Lone Pine Garage Home Page Michael has been painting pebble beach and salon prive cars for years. Our full resto cars wouldn't go anywhere else, and many other top-tier restorers feel the same. Pricey, but well known as one of the top painters in the uk...
Speak to a guy called Gino he owns a company in Bristol called southwest couloir has a 355 of his own he is a normal guy no Ferrari tax reasonable price and outstanding quality he will travel and look at the car then arrange collection you can tell the pride in his work if you saw his shop not huge and ousing with wealth just clean tidy and nice well recommended done a cracking job on my 355
I had a full body restoration done by Autofficina. They are an indy in Epsom. Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 for Shaun at Hayward Classics. Did a full bare metal respray and panel beaten repairs on my 944Turbo about 8 years ago. It was featured on their old website. It was such a good job the guy who details the cars for EVO reckoned it was the best respray he'd seen all year.
Hi J, did you end up finding someone? I have another if you need it, guy who's very much under the rader but doing fantastic work in Surrey. He looks after my Vetro's paint between supercars..... Let me know if you need contact details.
