Posted something on F-Chat a year or 2 back in the "subscribed" sections.

Since the search function here is pitiful, and THIS particular subsection is open to a "google search," I'm just gonna make some statements.

I have HAD a "toaster oven" that had 3 elements, above and below, with which you could set a TIME, or a TEMPERATURE. That oven would happily ramp up its temp to 700+ before it shut down. And? It had a "fan bake" setting that would sear the outside of meats or breads.

NOTHING I can find, or have used since will allow more than 450 degrees F - and they really BARELY hit that temp...

Can anybody suggest a "toaster oven" (and, I'd SURE prefer something with rotisserie!) that can manage ANYTHING over 600 degrees?

Hi. Saw this, but was traveling, and wanted to confirm my recollection. My experience is the same as yours, 450 max on my toaster oven. I have a ToastMaster at work. I do not know anything that's higher in temp. For those temps and rotisserie, something like a charcoal grill would seem to be the thing. I can say, however, from personal experience that a rotisserie is the best accessory I've ever added to my grill.

Would be interested if your research yields any indoor candidates. Sorry that I could not be of more help...T

    Tom, thanks for your reply.

I DO have a rotisserie for my grill, but don't really like to cook on the back deck when it is 20 degrees out, or the winds are a steady 30 mph plus.

Currently have a "Wolfgang Puck" "Bistro Collection" oven with rotisserie & lower pizza tray - it is "OK." Also have a Delonghi "turbo convection" that is actually pretty decent, but small capacity & no rotisserie. At home, currently using, I THINK... a Black & Decker rotisserie - it is FAIR, but doesn't seem hot enough at broil/rotisserie to really crisp the skin of a small bird.

Wish I could remember the toaster oven I used at my old house - it would happily scorch the skins off of peppers, quickly brown/blacken cheese atop tuna on english muffins, and crisp the skins of sausages or poultry with gusto. THOSE are the kinds of things I want my oven to do, and NONE of the toaster ovens I currently have on hand properly manage any of those tasks.

Just to update/edit/clarify my last post?

The toaster oven we have at home is some model from "Hamilton Beach," not "Black & Decker."

I'm not a "name snob" - I just need something that will get the job done. I KNOW what I had before that DID everything well was under $500. I'm about to say SCREW IT, and pay 4 times that for something like a "Salamander" or whatever else that will get the job done, every time. OR? Might just build my own damn thing - a bit harder these days, with the worries about asbestos... :)

Hi David…Interesting, I wonder if the trouble in finding high temp ovens today is likely due to the lack of not being able to use asbestos for insulation? Intriguing.

    Anyway, I saw this online…

Countertop Pizza Ovens - Nemco Food Equipment

No rotisserie though. It is 240 V though, so maybe that's another reason for the 450 F limit on most 120 V machines?

Once you buy/build your "flames of Hell" contraption, post some pics of the tasty results! :)

Mildly off topic, but has anyone figured out how to disable the bell on their toaster oven? I'd use mine more often, but the dog goes on a crazy barking jag for about five minutes after the "ding"...T

My Hamilton Beach disabled its own bell, though the timer still works - it just won't go "DING," or, shut off when it times out, for that matter. Would be more than happy to send it to you, for the price of shipping! LOL :)

Or you could just train your dog that that bell means a treat so they look forward to it. :)

Dogs first. The three best commands you can teach a dog. One of them is the foundation of training. The sit command. Second is stop. Third is come here. If my dog is doing something bad its stop and sit.

    Toaster ovens. Have no idea.

My dog owns me, not the other way around! And, I wouldn't have it any other way, she's the light of our life. We sort of hoped that desensitization therapy would work. It did for the doorbell, not the toaster oven...T

Worked great for me. A quick search for threads under your name with "toaster oven" in them brought up this thread and the previous one (in this same forum, by the way, not a subscribed forum): http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/drink-smoke-fine-dining/417602-best-toaster-oven.html

Yeah, that's fine for a little pooch. Mine though can be dangerous untrained! I like having them around as kids, but their main purpose is crime deterrence!
