I would greatly appreciate some opinions as to which factory authorized body shop is the best (or has the reputation of being the best) in the USA. Also if someone could list all 6 (7?) shops I would appreciate that as well.

    Thanks

You may want to call FNA as there are only 4 or 5 I think. 201-816-2600.

A friend of mine did some pretty serious track damage to a 360 Spider, and the car is now, without question, better than the day it left the factory in Italy. Of course an insurance bill of about $80k was involved.

I toured Karosserie a few years ago and spent a lot of time talking to them about repairing my former Ferrari. They had been highly recommended by a friend in SC who had had them repair a TR. They were very impressive. They focus on completely accurate repairs, so they can be very expensive for cars where parts have to be remanufactured because they are no longer available. They were working on mulitple 360s when I was there. I recommend you give them a call as they were good to talk to.

FoSF (the only factory store) uses Anthony's in San Rafael. I had my (black) 575 repainted there and they did an excellent job.

Ferrari of Beverly Hills uses Arroyo Auto Body on Farmdale in North Hollywood.

Raphael Arroyo is very very good.

There are lots and lots of places that do good Ferrari body work. There are very few factory authorized shops, as the OP requested. The reason isn't because few people know how to load a spray gun. The reason is simply that very few shops have the Alcoa certification and equipment to fix frames.

I hesitate to call it a bodyshop, but Junior's (Herschel Conway aka Junior) in LA imho is the best Ferrari paint shop in the US

That is incorrect, There are 6 Factory approved Ferrari shops. Ferrari is very slective who they allow to become an authorized shop. It is very expensive for the shops, However the upside is they bill at $95 an hour to the insurance companies versus the typical industry which is much lower. usually in the $45 an hour neighborhood. I use Bell's Autobodywerks in Costa Mesa CA and yes they are factory approved. They do very good work and are currently repairing the Enzo that was crashed by an actor at an autocross event. I highly recommend them for people in the area.

I visited Karosserie when they completed their Alcoa frame Jig room - purchased to repair the then-new 360 Modena cars. Algar uses Die Karosserie exclusively, and they've helped me out a couple of times.

Bo Pirkle in Tucker, Georgia(770.939.6982) is one of if not the best...even though his shop looks simple. He has been doing the paint and body work for FAF and now FoA for three decades now. I have seen multi-million dollar Ferraris from 250GTOs to 288GTOs and everything in between. He did some paint work on Bill Gates Lusso as well as others of the super rich..he ain't cheap, nor fast...but, he is very good at what he does...

Since when? As far as I know they along with most use Premier Motorsports. They're a factory approved collision center located at 10429 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 310-559-1562. Do a search, their reputation is impeccable.

Junior is "The best car painter in the world" period and definitely not just a "bodyshop". I've become good friends with him and visit his shop every time I'm in CA. The degree of perfection that he achieves is mind boggling (and that's coming from someone who owns a detail shop). Last time I visited I watched him wet sand the gutter under the trunk for hours and that's before compounding/polishing it out by hand. He does Pebble Beach standard work but probably won't do a bumper that been chipped up. And on top of that Junior is a wonderful and humble human being.

I'll give another vote to Bell's autobody in Costa Mesa, CA. Their Ferrari techs, including the owners son, are all trained/certified in Italy. They have the correct alignment machine and fixtures(which are only loaned from Ferrari, not sold). Their work is of the highest quality, their customers the most demanding. Can't go wrong there with any make of car, and certainly Ferrari is their specialty. Almost as important as the bodyman's skills are the skills of the liason to the insurance company. This is were Ralph Bell stands out. If there is something questionable, and the insurace company is resisting, he won't stop pushing until he is satisfied the job is done right and the insurance guys cover it!! Hope that helps.

East Coast I would have to say Frank Triarsi-old, and new alloy frames...he does all cars damaged in shipping for FNA, etc..
I would have included Bob Hatch-incredible paint quality and consistency-in Massachusetts(Ferrari asked if they would get Alcoa Certified and they declined), but I think that he has retired and sold the business...?? South nof this is an unknown quantity. Just being honest...

West coast...paint in No. California...Campbell Auto Restoration, 250 GTOs/250Trs etc, no problem on anything UP TO ALCOA frames-the FACTORY MERCEDES facility in Belmont is the ONLY ALCOA certified facility in the BayAera, that I am CERTAIN of....

In LA, there are a couple of ALCOA shops that I'm told are competant(certified)..as to Paint-there is Junior, and then it is... whatever..
I'm told Bill deCarr has some health issues, and has semi-retired,
the best interior and top guy-Tony Nancy-has passed away.

Mike R's day job is as a Dusenberg restorer(?)-his Ferrari stuff is GREAT-but at a car here and there sort of thing-time is tough....these cars are tough...his finished product is for conoisseurs....

My apologies to all of the "fly over states" and their shops!
