So i dont always wash my car, if its dry and light dust i use a microfibre towel (several), but being a black car im struggling to find a detail spray that doesnt attract dust!
Once clean its spotless, but picks up dust very quickly compared to when washed

Is there such a product? Thanks

LOL, I have never seen an anti-dust product.
Yes, once washed a black car will be clean for about one minute.
Some disagree, but I recommend California Dusters, before any mf towel processes.
Have fun, black cars are a labor of love.

I use this on my black 458 Spider and it works great - Frankly I don't know if this particular one for black cars works any better than the normal ones but mentally it seems cool :) Obviously, the key with a black car is to use it VERY liberally and if possible blow the dust off with a blower or something before using it - but for me I use it and see no scratches or swirl marks - and I am extremely picky about my cars. Just FWIW - I think Griots also has some great products and the true pro detailers on here might have better suggestions but for the common man like me this works well - Cheers :)

Interesting discussion. My Cali30 is black, had it detailed yesterday, drove it today and I can already see dust. But it's sooooo gorgeous to look at (dust or not) :)

I know black cars attract dust easily

However im interested in why after a wash it takes more time to attract dust as opposed to using a detail spray

I have found between brands some attract it less, but getting tires of buying so many different ones lol

I used Griots Speed Shine with microfiber cloths. Just go light on the spray and light touch on the wipe. The key was to do this after every drive so the dust was minimal.

Old technology.. I would stear away from that and look into quality products that you can't just buy at your local auto parts store. Detail stuff has taken off in the last 10 years and the level of products is unreal. My favorite brand is Geyon and CarPro. The rag company makes the "ferrari: of micro fibers. And there isn't just one rag that doses it all. One for inside ,one for polish (short pile) one for quick detail (mid pile) there is so much to learn . My ocd is all over. But check out obsessed garage, and detailed image to stock up.

I use the same, but spray on a lot of the Speed Shine. My thought is that it washes away some of the dirt before I wipe it with a MF cloth.

Is the Griots Speed Shine noticeably better than the Mother's and Meguires products? Just curious- Griots seems to get rave reviews but wondering how much is hype vs actually better.

    LMK- Cheers and thanks

Car-pro is what I use and it is head and shoulders above anything else I have used on my black car or any other.
My neighbor makes me get it for him now. It is damn expensive but works great.

I mostly use Speed Shine and have been happy with it.
I bought some Reload and half of it was wasted on the floor because the sprayer on the bottle was junk. Common problem I hear. Not spending $40 on a small bottle to have that problem again.
We have 5 cars and I use Speed Shine on all of them. Griots Engine Dressing is awesome too.

All my cars that have a ceramic coating repel dust. As others have said once the car has a ceramic coating at the end of the wash process you just use a carpro product called reload and it basically makes the coating last longer.

Any car that I own that does not have a coating or is getting the coating later, attracts dust like crazy. Carnuba based products and quick detailer sprays make the car attract even more dust. As others have said, old technology versus new technology.

after having my last five or six cars ceramic coated, I recently bought a new car and decided to delay the coating. I was feeling rebellious and decided that it wasn’t worth paying for the paint correction and Cquartz coating. Trying to go without, has only made me more of a believer.

FWIW , I have all of my F cars totally wrapped with PPF. I can use any spray wax without micro scratches etc. Before I drive my black F8s I just use a California Duster which removes all dust and I don’t worry about the paint. PPF makes life a lot easier especially on a black car. Hope this helps , Kirk.

I have a black Porsche Cayenne. Every time I take it to the dealer, I threaten them with bodily harm if they use a power buffer on it. It has some old PPF on the front clip, but at some point it needs to come off. Then it will need to be repainted. **** it. It's an SUV.
