    Experts,

I plan to install aftermarket headers and considering Jet-Hot coating, what colors have people used and which colors look best? (note: the car color is red). Any photos appreciated.

Also how are the colors you have used called in the Jet-Hot speak?

Looking at Jet-Hot galleries what they call "Classic Polish" may be a good choice, but maybe people found something better?

    Thanks!

I went with their highest temperature application, white on the outside and clear on the inside. but don't believe their claims. It will not reduce underhood temperatures. I used an infrared thermometer to take before and after temperatures from various points around the engine bay, and everything was hotter afterwards. Call them on it and they'll backpedal on their claims.

I went with their high temp black and deleted all the cats. Doesn't feel too much different than the oem heat, but that had cats.

Jet Hot is a great company. I have used them. I prefer their silver (looks like polished aluminum) and you can actually re-polish them if they get a little dingy looking.

I've spent several days investigating it and getting to the actual data from the Jet Hot engineers (after also first talking to the support/marketing people).

Bottom line (skipping all the numbers and technical terms):

High temperature application (Jet Hot 2000) is for running hot turbos etc so it will not crack/peel from high temp, but it does NOT reduce under hood temperature as well as the Low temp application (Jet Hot 1200).

So someone who wants to reduce under hood temperature should go with the Jet Hot 1200 low temperature application, not the high temp application.

    Hope it helps.

And the default/most common "classic polish" is the low temp, which seems to be one of the best Jet Hot choices for lowering the temp

White and polished silver are good heat emitters (think back to steam radiators). If you want to reduce the termperture of the headers, it's good. If you're trying to reduce the engine compartment temperature it probably doesn't make any difference.

I'm pretty sure my working with them was cause for them telling you that. Back when I had my headers coated, their claim was that the coating I bought would reduce temperatures everywhere... surface temps, underhood temps. I probably spoke to everyone who worked there during it all. I shared all of my before and after data and videos. In the end, they changed the way the formulated their claims. I actually would have been better off not having them coated at all. The fabspeed heat blankets did a lot more for reducing underhood temps.

I never understand the claims that a coating can reduce the pipe temp, the insulation blankets work as they trap air in the fibre they are made off, the air is the actual insulator in effect. Our big industrial diesel exhausts are not lagged in insulation blankets, but the pipes run in the middle of an insulated box. Pipe temp in the box about 550C, temp on the outside of the box about 40C and the paint does not burn off
