I assume you mean for storage, as opposed to repair?

I like the Backyard Buddy design and locking mechanism. I bought a similar unit from American Custom lifts, but for a few dollars more you could have the better locking design. Both are powdercoated and available in extra wide / height versions. Not too difficult to put together, but you will need at least two people and a hoist or about four people without the hoist. Don't bother with the casters that most lift companies try to sell you. You will not want to move the unit once it is installed. The drip trays are a must have, and a rolling oil catch can is a nice thing to get. For me the aluminum ramps are worth the little extra over the too heavy steel ones as I remove them often when I am putting the lift up.

I have a BYB and the quality is outstanding and made in the USA BTW. But, I do agree with Bill, if I bought another lift it will likely be one just like Bill's blue one, above. The differences between it and the BYB are very small.

I would not want an open channel lift, although they are very inexpensive.

Oh, I did unload it, assemble it and even moved it to a new house by myself, no help needed. I had to use a floor jack and some wooden blocks but no hoist or human helpers.

I do have the castor kit and I do move it time to time for various reasons. This is also the reason I got 110 volt rather than 220. I can move it to any slot, or even roll it out into the driveway for certain chores and don't have to worry about power supply.

I would say a 11' ceiling height is mim. I'm stacking two Vettes this way. Two things to remember, floor must be even. Mine slopes and it causes major issues with alignment. You will also need to look into getting a direct drive gargage door opener and have your rails redone along with springs for the added height and pulleys and cables. Figure another $1k to get the gargage door opener and rails redone.

The general rule of thumb is to have the ceiling height be a minimum of the two car heights added plus 10" (this allows for 4" of deck thickness, and 6" for the stop spacing), but 12" is probably a little bit more realistic. So if you have a vehicle that is 44" high, and one that is 51" high, I would go for a ceiling height of 44+51+12 or 107" (just under 9'). My ceilings are about 11'-6" and that allows me to walk without ducking when I work on everything we have except the Odyssey or the Wrangler...

That looks identical to the superlifts that I got 2 weeks ago. The people who installed it told me it was a copy of that exact lift you have. I like the lift but would never deal with the company again, they took 4 months longer than they claimed it would (I wasn't ready for it at the time so I wasn't too concerned) and it arrived a little bit scratched up. It works perfectly but I'd go with a different brand next time.

Check out this thread Rick started about his Bendpack lift w/jack. (You don't have to add the jack though...)

Aclifts.com was really good to deal with. Here is the page with the lift I ordered: http://www.aclifts.com/parking/titan-lift.asp (the pics are from my installation)
Brad Davies is the president and called me twice regarding my order.

To be clear, my opinion is that the Backyard Buddy has a better lock design, but you will probably pay an extra $500 or so to get it. I don't think the one on the Aclift is ever going to fail, it is just the BYB has a more inherently secure system. I recommend painting the locking blocks bright orange so it is easier to see them when you release the locks.

There used to be a great outfit in Kansas called http://www.allamericanlifts.com/ that really had the best deal out there, and very nice people to boot. Unfortunately, they closed in March 2010.

    :)
