Hi Guys I’ve done a search and I’m surprised that I can’t find a recent thread on aftermarket exhaust for the 296. I just took delivery of my 296GTB and plan to upgrade my exhaust system. With my Ferrari’s I almost always go with Novitec, but want to see if there are other options that you guys have installed and how they compare and how you like what you chose. If I go with something that screams, I would want to have valves to tone it down when cruising in the freeway. Thanks in advance. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Yes, especially in the last few years. Ferrari has clamped down on this. Also, with the complexity of the hybrid system, and the known problems with that I would not tempt fate.
I’m a little surprised by the comments so far. I’ve owned over 30 sports cars over the years, including 15 Porsches and 9 Ferrari’s. I’ve had aftermarket exhaust on every single one of them. In many cases my dealer installed the exhaust system and suspension. I’ve never had an issue. Is it possible, sure, but so is the car lighting on fire or hitting a rock on a canyon drive that totally screws the car up. Both of which have happened to me. I’ve used the forums to help decide on which exhaust system to install on all of my exotics. I’ve even owned 11 M series BMW’s, all of which were tuned with exhaust and suspension. As a reference point, I take delivery of my GT3 RS this week. There are extensive threads on lots of exhaust options on the Porsche forum to help guide my decision. Come on guys, let’s open this discussion up. I really need ideas. I’ve always gone with Novitec on my Ferrari’s, but there has to be other options to consider.
I’m sure you’ve read the threads on the 458, 488, f8 sub forum. Ferrari has really gotten strict the last few years and not sure too many are willing to risk it. Besides, I think the 296 sounds great. Much better than the F8 and I have zero desire to change the sound. Personally, I think loud aftermarket exhaust sound obnoxious. I’ve had 2 Huracans that I bought new and sold within months as the exhaust was not for me. (Probably too much grey hair on my head). I have no desire to be attracting attention like that. In all of my Porsches I rarely push the exhaust button (have a 992.2 and am fine with the quietness). To each their own and no wrong opinions either way.
Definitely not your grey hair, but that being said, I drive a Tesla every day, but when I get in my exotics, I want the to scream
The Novitec dealer in my country informed me that, for customers who want to maintain their warranty, it’s common practice to reinstall the factory exhaust before taking the car to Ferrari. After the service or inspection is completed, the aftermarket exhaust is put back on. The Novitec dealer typically charges around $2,000 for the entire exhaust swap process. as the Ferrari Dealer in my country voids the warranty if any mods are done to the car.
With the amount of data available to the dealer from the car when it is plugged into the Ferrari system if something goes wrong they will know what parameters have been exceeded. So the swapping back of the exhaust may not be enough
The dealer and factory will always know that you’ve modified your exhaust, whether it’s on the car or not. It would be very very rare for a major issue being tied to an aftermarket exhaust, but the risk always exists. As I mentioned above, I’ve added aftermarket exhaust to over 30 cars. I have NEVER had an issue. Doesn’t mean that this may not be the first, but such is life. Back to the original question, who has been aftermarket exhaust, and how do you like it. Looking for solid recommendations.
Novitec .... but warranty will be voided because you need the tectonic on OBD or the engine lite will be on ............ Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Novitec dealer in my country told me that if I install only the race exhaust system without the sport catalysts, I won’t get any error messages or check-engine lights, so the OBD dongle won’t be necessary. The dongle is only required if I decide to use the sports catalysts. The issue is that I can’t find any videos of the Ferrari 296 with just the race exhaust system installed. Most of the Novitec videos I’ve seen feature the sports catalysts and even the turbo inlets, making it difficult to gauge how much of a difference the race exhaust system alone will make.
How are you managing service and maintenance on your car with these modifications if the warranty is voided ? Also, do you have just the sport exhaust, or are you running the sport catalysts as well? Lastly, how much of a real-world difference in sound have you noticed compared to the stock setup?
I was ordering the full system but talking with the dealer that install we only use " OPTIMIZED EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH FLAP-REGULATION" no cell error , catalysts are original ...... dealer must agree to do that or can be a issue in the future ..... not a huge difference in sounds , massive difference with the full exhaust but i don't want take any risk ..... Thinking in turbo inlet ......... not sure
Could you please share any video clips of the sound? I’m on the verge of installing a similar setup—minus the Novitec tips—but I haven’t been able to find any footage online. Also, how much did it cost you? The Novitec dealer here is quoting about $6,000 for parts and labor. Also why did you decide to go with the flap system and not flap-less system ? Sorry for asking so many questions
I will asap ... this week I'm traveling only $6000 sure ? Flap system $9,360.00 + tips $3,750.00 all stainless steel not inconel or gold parts the race exhaust with no valves is around $7000 I think ... they need 5/6 hours for install
I’ve been running the Novitec CAT back system on my F8 for 4 years. Zero issues and not one word from my dealer. Maintenance has been done annually for free as per the schedule. BTW, my F8 sounds incredible
I was quoted $5,000 for the flapless exhaust and $1,000 for labour I really want to see your video before I make my decision with only the flaptess exhaust without touching the cats
I suppose so. The Novitec dealer here in Dubai also represents Akrapovič and several other companies that produce exhaust systems for exotic cars, including the 296. When I asked which brand I should choose, he said without hesitation that Novitec is the best option for anything Ferrari.
Good luck with that. Novitec does not develop nor manufacture exhausts or anything else for that matter (as far as I know). When I see how bad the aftermarket suspension they sold me were for my 296... And I know many people will say they are perfectly happy with Novitec product. For every story of happy Novitec customer I hear online, I have real world horrible experience in Switzerland to oppose to it. I do not say that online claims are not real to be clear. And the main issue is that when something goes wrong or does not work as marketed, Novitec (or an official distributor) comes back with the same answer: "you are the first customer to complain, we cannot take anything back as it was used and you certainly mounted it wrong anyway". Just my own experience and experiences from my very big F dealership here in Switzerland. And yes they still do install requests from their customers. But not with Novitec (or stuff sold by them).
As I mentioned above, I’ve been using Novitec for many years and our shop in Westlake Village is a Novitec dealer. Our experience is totally different. The one thing I will say is their support, as least in the US is very limited.
Did you go ahead with the Novitec ? I informed my dealer of this and they told me directly that if I modify anything with the exhaust they will void my warranty!
