Tom Jones won't be able to drive out this trip. I made a beer cooler out of the 348 trunk with some styrofoam and an old shower curtain. dry ice works perfectly. holds 5 cases (cans). Grand opening in Beaufort Friday night.
For fueling up, I'm aware of only one gas station in that area and it is probably best to do so before getting to the starbucks. The station is a BJ's Gas up on the hill at the corner of Lumley Rd and Brier Creek Pkwy. Lou
FYI, I'm just about positive BJ's requires membership to buy gas. Don't wait to be empty to buy it there.
Not true, Woody. Non-members just pay the non-discounted rate (which is about average). Lynne and I will see folks at lunch around noon Friday at the McConnells, vintage boat in tow.
Wow, you could of not picked a better day to head out! I am glad I got to see you guys and gals off at Starbucks but man, I so wanted to just keep going with you instead of veering off and going to work. I hope you all have a great time.
Hi Matt, It was good seeing you this morning. Your car looked great. We had a good trip to Kinston and a great lunch at the Bentley. After that, some folks went on to Tryon Palace while others of us went straight to Beaufort. Very nice setting here overlooking the water. Lou
A fun time was had by all. Cant post pics yet but here is a taste..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blSe9sN5R1U
had a great time seeing friends and meeting new ones like Dr S and Dr Wan. hate that i had to leave on sat., but at least i got to see you guys. hope some of you can make it to classics on the james sept 12-14. peace
What a fantastic turnout! We absolutely packed the place in Beaufort, and it was a terrific weekend. From the heavy armor at Cherry Point, to the outrageous yachts at Hatteras it was really an event to remember. As f355red mentioned, it was just wonderful to meet some new and old friends again at the beach. Plans are already afoot for the 2008 Getaway -- and it's going to be a totally new location for the Club. Keep you August 2009 'open', and stay tuned. Remember the next few events: 14/15 Sep: Classics on the James (Richmond, VA) 14 Sep: Italian GP viewing (Summerfield) 29 Oct: Fall midweek track event (VIR) 8 Nov : Fall scavenger rally and banquet ('east/central' and Durham) 6 Dec : Holiday Party (tbd) Full details and registration will be available for each event at www.fca-nc.com Through the looking glass of my iPhone... Amy and I had a great weekend and we really wanted to thank Ronnie, Bob, Daniel, Kevin, and Tom for putting together such a great weekend! (Tom, we really missed you this year!) A SPECIAL THANKS TO MARK AND HIS PARENTS FOR THE GREAT HOSPITALITY AT THE BENTLEY INN!!! They really worked hard and rolled out the red carpet for us in Kinston... THANK YOU!!! To everyone that showed up, thanks for a great time!!! Amy and I talked on the way home about how we're already looking forward to next year. I will try to post some pictures this week... I gotta go unpack now and get ready for Monday! Thanks everyone and god bless! Hank & Amy Carpenter
Now that's a dashboard! Thanks again to the McConnells. Fantastic spread on Friday. Looks like everyone had a great time at the beach!
Just to echo what everyone has said...it was great weekend for all. Glad y'all enjoyed lunch on Friday...we certainly enjoyed having everyone there. Having attended Cavallino, FCA National meets, etc. I can say that our NC crowd is the best group of people I've encountered thru Ferrari. It is always great to get together for NC chapter events! Here's a small photo album from the newspaper's website: http://portal.kinston.com/photogallery/?CatID=8&AlbumID=77
+1 Marc, your family has the most beautiful Inn, and their hospitality was just incredible! Several of us said we should just stay at the Bentley on our next trip I'm still defrosting a bit from dinner at Aqua.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes....Aqua....excellent food but I think everyone's nipples are still hard 36 hours later haha
You got that right. Dan said it at the store, "If you have to have blankets in your inventory, IT'S TOO DAMN COLD!!!"
Hi All Susan and I had a wonderful weekend as well. You guys are the best group of any of the events we go to! Many thanks to the McConnell's for their gracious and generous hospitality! Great job to Ronnie Rumple & Daniel Pass for ram rodding a great weekend. We are thinking about going to weekend on the James in Richmond. Hope to see many of you there. Kind regards, Woody PS: Daniel, maybe you can have some Shawls made up with Ferrari Logo.
Some pics from the weekend: Pic 3: We'll have to work on our formation to not be lop-sided next year Last pic: 2-person shawl in place.
