Very true. Oracle CEO Larry Ellison's pilot had an unfortunate "off" in his McLaren F1! And there's Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya whose collection is enjoyed far, far more by his employees than by him. The crews of their "boats" also have a lot of fun, and only have to cater to the owners about 10-20 days a year.

You weren't kidding. I looked it up, sure enough, the GPA 747 was sitting at the Tijuana Airport!

Seems like the SP is popular among those running religious organizations. Ernest Angley has a 747SP based in Ohio (reg # P4-FSH). At least some photos of it on airliners.net show it flying within the past couple years.

5 people were onboard only during this landing, lol!

When Travolta flies his 707, I know that he is qualified to be PIC, but where does he get the rest of his crew? I presume he still needs 3 up front, or is there any chance that he's had the aircraft modified to work with a 2-man crew?

I can confirm this was Roman Abramovich and John Houghtaling flying into Houston to meet up with Franco Valobra(in foreground). Mr. Abramovich and John are working together on a venture and were in New Orleans and Houston for meetings. You probably know my dear friends John and Franco from the Challenge Club Racing Series they founded. The interior of that plane is amazing... I wish I could post the photos...

    Kind Regards,
    Christopher

He always flies with an experienced Captain, and yes, you need three crew members up front. I don't know where he gets his FE, but I wouldn't be surprised if the FE were a mechanic rather than a pilot.

I id some work on the 707-138B that Travolta now has when the current interior was done at Associated Air Center around 1990.

The -138B was a special 707 developed for Qantas with a short body. At the time the standard 707 did not have the range that Qantas needed - it was the then equivalent to the 747SP for all the same reasons.

This particular -138B had long been owned by the Ojjeh family as "papa's" aircraft. This is the same family of TAG. Even though papa had the 707 the son Mansour had made TAG the Africa and Middle East distributor for Bombardier Challengers. Page Avjet in Orlando did a 727-200 with a Jon Bannenburg designed interior that was to replace the 707. Spectacular interior but the aircraft did not have the range that papa expected. So, they gutted the 138B and did a completely new interior. The 727 was sold to Nelson Peltz. The 707 was then used until papa's death. That is when Travolta bought it.

The TAG boys had a 747SP for a while, too, didn't they?

I'd love to see some interior pics of the 747s on this thread. I've always wondered what they were like, given that they have so much room and so much width in the cabin.

    Sorry.

I can identify most of those photos.

The exterior with Walid's 747-400 the near aircraft is a Hawker.

Starting with the photo just after Jackie Chan.

Adnan Khassggi DC-8-73. Room is just forward of the master bedroom.

A Sultan of Brunei aircraft vanity top and sink. The caption makes a deal about the custom sink but misses that custom stone work on Jon Lipkins.

Doors for one of the Brunei wide bodies.

    Gulfstream galley.

Brunei. Likely one of the A340s.

Brunei master lav on one of the wide bodies.

Cockpit. Nick Gleis got into digital manipulation of his photos early. Inserting sunset scenes outside the windows became a trademark of his.

727-100. Either the ex-Perenchio aircraft when owned by Petters or Trump's 727-100 after bought back from Theberton.

Trump's 727. Originally converted to VIP for Diamond Shamrock. There was at least one other VIP owner before Trump bought it.

    Rendering for a 787.

    Khassoggi's DC-8.

Although copyright by Nick it looks to be a rendering.

    Brunei Gulfstream.

    Brunei widebody.

    Khassoggi DC8.

I tend to thinks so. 30 something years of doing VIP aircraft interiors comes with some level of "a clue".

Khasoggi DC8 and all the Brunei aircraft were done by Michael Reese/Reese Design. Nick Glies did all the photos for Michael.

I redid the Trump 727 when he sold it to the Saudis.

Jeff, you should do a big coffee table book, I'm not aware of one that exists.

I'd love to see more of the Sands 747SP. I have pictures of some of the interior from what I believe is the former owner, lots of green and Jade, looked ugly as sin.

Also anyone that has the Smithsonian channel, there is an one hour episode on Trumps (former Paul Allen) 757

The producers of the show on Trump's 757 played into the revisionist history on the aircraft. The interior was refurbished with some changes but it is still mostly the original configuration of Paul Allen's. Configuration the main change was the most aft area where Allen had a few rows of airline seats. The Trump people made statements about cost that are fiction beyond just some exaggeration. Trump paid about $10 mil for the aircraft. Trump is CHEAP. This is a great aircraft not because of Trump but because Allen bought the right aircraft and had a first rate job done back in the early to mid 1990s.

The new entertainment system is really good. The person who did it is a friend of ours. He likely got screwed by Trump because that is standard practice for Trump.

Here are original photos from when the aircraft was done for Allen. The aircraft was bought from Ansett Leasing having never gone into airline service.

The thread itself is legendary but this is a great idea.

Jeff, do you have the rights to publish full images or details? There is a major "coffee table" publisher that I could bring this to.
