yep, saw dark side of the moon there a couple of times.... cant remember exactly when though... here are a few in a similar vein... Bill Graham handing out apples at the Filmore The Bill Graham Memorial Concert, when it rained flowers for a while over Golden Gate Park Dancing at the I-Beam (late 80's) Seeing a band at Slims (Any time) does anyone remember a little back street bar that had an F1 car coming through the wall? It had a couple other cars inside as well. I only went there once, and it was a looooooong and foggy night. I really cant even remember how I got to the place... but it RULED.
Sonomarick: The oldest bar on "Van Ness Ave. " ? I'm not 100% sure but would it be Tommy's Joint on the corner of Geary & VanNess across from the old Jack Tar Hotel (now the Cathedral Hill Hotel, right?) I used to walk up and down Vanesss between O'Farrell and Green St. for a number of years (Muni seemed slower than my walking) so I knew where most of the bars were. There was a "fern bar" on the corner of VanNess and Vallejo St. but forget the damn name of the place. That one wasn't there too long though but TJ's been there since at least 64'... yeah, I'm pretty old!
My first wife was a stew for National Airlines and their layovers were at the JackTar. Spent many a night with the National gals at Tommys Joint. Quite a H2Oering hole. That was 66-67. Jeez am I old.
How many of you remember "Standard Five & Dime" Store!!!!! Wasn't it officially "Standard 5,10 & 25 Cents" store?

OK .. for you really old guys (1950's) that may have lived on the Peninsula .. the Friday night and Saturday drags on Canada Road at the Pulgas Water Temple .. the challenges began at Kirby's drive in and everyone moved to Canada Rd. That illegal activity resulted in the creation of the Half Moon Bay drag strip in the late 50's/early 60's.
remember seeing Jefferson Airplane [original members] at the Berkley Greek theater just after they reunited....they play two shows and broke up again...WAS GREAT saw Pink Floyd, one of my fav. bands, several time [stones too] via my nurse sis who was always with rock med...some of the members came in for items..cool lastly the club you mention, I believe it was New Georges or something like that in San Rafael: saw Robin Trower there...HE WAS LOUD...but, worth having ones ears blown out......Bridge of Sighs......aaahhhhhh
My next door neighbor, his daughter is the lead in BBB. Just finished with Nancy Pelosi: Toscano...his family owns a bunch of car dealerships in Colma etc. she does a fun job.
The oldest bar in SF is the Saloon on Grant and Columbus.... I GOOOOOOOFFFFFED. Thought it was at Van Ness
I remember that! Later turned into a glider port (If I am correct, if not, it was not too far away). The old glider port, runway at 880 and ??? (A mile north of 237) was kinda cool! With all the 'dead' businesses in that area, I would bet bringing the drags back could generate more income for the city!
I just went by Levitz off Montague and 101. They took the sign down but the store is STILL there. ? They have had an "everything has to go" sale for like forever I guess they're doing whatever it takes not to close...for like that last several yrs
Oooooooooh.....The PEACE ON EARTH sign on top of the tall black building in the Pruneyard in Campbell. Hope it's still there, as it's been there since I was a kid.......Maybe the ACLU had them take it down
The American flag painted on the side of the hill on 680 near Sunol grade, and the South San Francisco letters onn the hill in San Bruno are the letters still there?
Anybody remember Don Sherwood, the DJ from the 60s? Used to read the ads so badly, that you thought he was trashing (which he was) the advertiser? Art
I think that used to be the old Apple building correct? I remember seeing an Apple logo on one of those buildings a long time ago.
