Hey guys, just managed to plug my F12 in the trickle charger. It's just showing red, What does this mean? It's been 2 hours so far it's still red.

It means its “charging” - I write that in quotes because this looks like the weakest of the Ctek units and such a tender killed my 599 - the 599 wanted more charge than the tender can output- so over a few weeks in winter many years ago, I came out to a dead car- despite being on the tender!

The unit will get quite warm also- thats normal.

My suggestion is replace the unit with a better one such as the Ctek 3300 or 7002. Ive been using the latter on my cars for 15+ years- since the 599 incident.

You will need to get a ferrari specific connector for the Ctek- you can find them often on eBay.

I find the 7002 is better at handling power surges and brownouts.

You need to know if your F12 has a standard car battery or AGM- if it has start/stop (“HELE” in Ferrari speak) then it has an AGM battery. (It’s also possible a prior owner swapped the battery to a different type so it’s worth finding out). Use the normal mode for the standard battery and use the snowflake logo mode (next to normal) it also has a picture of a battery by the light, for AGM.

    Dude, you're so knowledgeable

Eh, same thing happened to my 458italia! I didn't have a dedicated socket back then, as I was living in an apartment, just bought a new one and drove it more often (73k miles haha.) My F12 did die a few months back, got a new battery but not sure what battery the dealer put in. I left it charging overnight, but it's still showing red this morning, unsure why. I guess I'm getting the 7002 charger?

Thanks- just been around these cars for a while now.

Get the 7002 and get the adapter

This is the first thing that appeared for me on eBay for one of these adapters- they are not cheap because there are only so many people putting them together. Just watch it for a bit to make sure it's working properly. You might find a better deal, etc.... And the tenders they've been shipping with newer models are much better.
