First timer going to Barrett-Jackson next week at Mohegan and I’m already stressed… lol

I have been doing some research and I'm not sure great deals can be had?
I think the 10% buyer’s premium throws a large monkey wrench into the “deal” aspect.

Another dilemma is the auction order. I have funds for only one purchase so having my heart set on one vehicle over another is offset by the auction order. I’m thinking, I need to come up with an opportunity /desire/ probability calculation… lol

    Comments , advice?

    Anyone else going?

That's exactly what you need to do. In a way you have to rank the cars based on value and then determine how the order alters your preference for keeping your money in your pocket vs. spending it knowing another opportunity is still around the corner.

From what I've observed on TV, there appear to be certain times at the auction when the room isn't so packed and bidding isn't so fierce. Maybe you can research this factor a bit or other FChatters can comment from experience when the bid competition is not so stiff. Then overlay the anticipated times for the cars you are interested in over the slack times to see if there are any hits and plan your bidding strategy accordingly. Good luck.

I'm staying a couple nights, and stressing over taking the Cali or not relative to parking.
Last time I took an fcar to Foxwoods Hotel they were ok w leaving it out front as opposed to garage,, I do not know about Mohegan.
I just can't help getting Ferris Bueller movie out of my head,, even though my car is no where as valuable in the market it is to me,,, :)

There was an 82 308 (yellow/black) but it wasn't on the Friday list.

Unless Saturday is different, there is hardly any Italian inventory.

I think it's 99.9% American cars. I saw one XJS, one SL AMG and one Datsun or Toyota truck, and that's about it for foreign makes.

I am too cheap to buy a car at auction, I could not handle the 10% buyer's premium. Heck I don't buy cars in CT to avoid the B.S. $400-1,000 dealer fees allowed by law and not allowed in NY. ;-)

    Good luck.

The first car on the block Friday was an M3 convertible.

I think I saw a Lancia on the list but that's about it!

As far as crowds go, even on a Friday, it was sold out and PACKED.

yeah. another form of forced tipping. Whatever fee should always be build in the selling price so we know what we buy from the get go.

CT by the way should also stop fleecing dealers to sustain their waste of money and let dealers compete with other states without having to charge for what the state may charge. I also am not looking in CT, my own state when buying cars and it is a shame to have to do this.
