This is from autoblog.com. I am guessing the 0-60 claims have not been verified but still a very interesting car nonetheless. Barabus TKR: 0-60 mph in 1.67 secs, 270 mph top speed Do we have your attention? The Barabus "1005 bhp" supercar we've been updating you on has finally been unveiled and the details on this machine are astounding. It's a true Italian-built exotic, though its twin-turbo 6.0-liter V8 that produces 1005 bhp is sourced from the U.K. According to Barabus, that motor will propel the all carbon-fiber car (body and chassis) to 60 mph in a mere 1.67 seconds, and on to a top speed of 270 mph. For those who didn't think this supercar was meant to be a Bugatti Veyron slayer, the new Barabus website that just went live today states, "The TKR is designed to compete with the world's fastest, quickest, best handling, most luxurious grand touring cars in the world" (our emphasis). Barabus will be producing 300-400 TKRs over a three-year production period, and fetching one will cost you £360,000. A sharp bargain compared to the Veyron's £600,000 (USD$1.1 million) asking price. Here is a link to there website: http://www.barabus.info/index.asp
Its simply theoretical. There is no way a car could get its wheels to hook up with that kind of power in order the do a sub 2 second 0-60. It will be very quick nonetheless.
I can't tell how wide the tires are, but there are cars that do sub-2 second 0-60. If the tires are wide slicks on a hot drag strip with rubber already laid down, it shouldn't be a problem. As far as on the regular streets with crappy DOT grade tires, then I doubt it like you say unless they're really wide with low tire pressure.
I agree on 2 foot wide racing slicks it is possible, but no manufacturer should be allowed to test with anything other than stock tires imo.
I believe its fast but i doubt that anycar can 0-60 in under 2.0seconds or atleast thats street legal. 0-60 in under 2seconds like almost as fast as the McDonnel Douglas A-4 Skyhawk fighter and that is a Jet.
LOL ! and here i'm thinking the GERMAN built BUGATTI VERYON is the best of all time.....guess i was wrong. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/displayPopup/0,,86700,00.html Boy did VW and all its GREAT GERMAN know how just get a slap in the face.
I wonder what TKR stands for. And yes it does look a lot like a S7 and a Elise. Its not terrible looking but not all that original.
Look at the back. Pagani is going to send the Mafia after them! http://www.barabus.info/images/tkr_bodywork2.jpg
Interesting... the whole thing seems pretty suspect to me... and the part Salleen, part Elise, part Pagani styling can only be described as "wicked lame, and no big dilly-o"
this was posted on digg.com earlier today. Read the responses from everyone, its pretty clear no one is buying this. I personally will only believe it when I see it. http://digg.com/hardware/World_s_fastest_car_0-60_in_1.67_seconds_270_mph_top_speed
You know what's really sad? Look at their websie!! lol In the meantime, I visited the Barabus website. Let me ask you guys something. Would you, a discerning individual in the market for a new exotic with around $550,000 to spend, consider throwing down your hard earned cash on a car whose makers have the verbal abilities of an average 8th grader? Here is text pulled directly from their site... "Designed, engineered, certified and marketed by Barabus Sportscars Limited, TKR was conceived to combine more power than a Formula one racecar with the driving pleasure of a road car. Working with some of the worlds most respected and technologically advanced automotive suppliers, the TKR has put power and looks to the front of the motor industry." What the hell are they saying here? They have put what to the front of who??? "A true supercar, the TKR is capable of over 200 miles per hour. Zero-to-60 time is under two seconds. When designing the TKR, Barabus put drivability on a wide variety of road conditions high on the list of on the list of objectives." Did anyone else see that? LOL "The car is to be made in Italy and the power plant is built in the United Kingdom. While the TKR is a true Italian supercar, the vehicle itself reflects a "best-in-practice" philosophy, where Barabus has incorporated superior components from around the globe in order to manufacture the best vehicle possible. The TKR utilizes ceramic brakes as well as numerous high technology pieces from companies located in Italy." Holy run-on sentence Batman!!! "Upholstery is covered with finest leathers and suedes. Accents are brushed aluminium or carbon fibre and painted body-colour highlights. Air conditioning, adjustable pedals. The Barabus has a unique interior feature: the rear view "mirror". There is a small video camera mounted in the rear of the car, with the display is shown normally where the rear mirror is situated." What dear sir are you trying to say? The interior has a mirror? Had I been interested in this car up to this point, I think your ad-copy has just talked me out of it... "The gill-like ducting is fully functional, venting air into the engine. The autoclave carbon fibre body panels beautifully incorporate the advanced aerodynamics and including full underside air management, advanced front tray and side skirt designs." Gill-like ducting? Correct me if I'm wrong, did this dude just say gill-like ducting??? So even if his piss-poor adcopy had not turned me off up to this point, he's determined to talk me out of buying this car by giving me mental images of how this car may closely resemble a fish? Advanced front tray designs? I can't recall Ferrari ever referring to their bodywork as trays before. Great, my half a million dollar sports car can double as a feeding shelf for a tv dinner... "The TKR engine is designed and built by Barabus and incorporates modern racing motor technology and engineering. Based on a V8 all aluminium block re-engineered by Barabus, the twin turbo dual intercooler motor generates 1005 horsepower at 6800 rpm; redlining at 7500 rpm. Space age materials and engineering are used throughout: A Barabus Electromech control system computer handles engine management. The ignition system is integrated coil-on-plug. A longitudinally mounted transaxle, with unique Barabus bell housing, transfers power to the wheels. " Space age technology? Did this guy just tell me that this car is comparable to the space shuttle because it has a transmission? I especially appreciate how redundant some of his sentences are. Sorry. I just couldn't resist. I never wish the worst on anyone, but I can't believe how horribly done this website is, and how amatuer the copywriting is. I hope they get their act together!
Pigs will fly before it hits that speed. The text is really horrible, but the logical explanation for that is english is not the first language of whoever wrote it. I've recently been corresponding with the head of an Italian touring car team who is very intelligent, but he makes grammatical mistakes frequently. Now, that's not to say that I think these guys are credible or that the amount of mistakes is excusable, there are just more reasons not to send these guys your money. Besides the unacheivable performance goals, this car might not even come to market.

PIC: http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2006/07/barabus3.jpg my question, why didnt we hear about this sooner? if a car could do that (strreet legal none the less) it would be revolutionary!
none of the links to the official barabus webpage are working for me. Are they down, or is it just something going on with my machine?
