Does anyone have Autocad drawings of Ferraris (esp 308:)) they'd be willing to share or know where to get them from? It bugs me when I have to put Porkers on my drawings! The other one I'd love to have is FIAT 500 (Bambino)

Hmmm....I don't know how you would ever aquire autocad drawings, at least not official ones. And "creating" an acurate cad drawing would be pretty hard. When I had my older Testarossa with the spline wheels, I made a cad drawing of the rear wheel and spline, in the hopes of developing a low cost alternative wheel. But things never really got off the ground. I did a detailed dimensional layout of the wheel using a variety of measuring tools and then made the cad drawing. Lots of time to do.

I do hope that somehow, somebody out there can help you with your request. I too would be very interested. And this may be a totally stupid question...but what does the term "Porkers" mean?

I always seem to use a combination of the Porsche and the family cruiser from vacation. I'll check to see if I have anything better.

you're talking about blocks for elev. and site layouts. i thought for a sec you wanted engineered CAD files. oh and check out the hooker with the boob job ;)

I've been reverse engineering the OEM parts over the last year and as such have been creating a collection of CAD files that you could use to re-create a part. I also think it's a good reference for those who'll be restoring these cars in another 20ysrs when parts become nearly non-existent. I really wish I owned a CMM, for now i borrow it when needed. but the micrometers and calipers do the trick as well, just TIME CONSUMING!

Thanks guys! The drawings posted by Dicenzo are the sort of thing I'm looking for but in a .dwg file (Dicenzo, I'm guessing what you've posted is a .pdf file but if you wouldn't mind emailing it to me I might be able to use it - I'll PM my email address).

It's very "easy" to create CAD drawings in AutoCAD (and others) simply by inserting an image (.tif, .bmp, .jpg, etc.) of the desired picture (Ferrari in this case), sending the image to the back (behind the vector drawing), and then simply tracing over the image using CAD tools and layers in vector format. The .dwg can then be scaled, etc. as desired.

FWIW, here's a .dwg file of a Ferrari Testarossa that I did back in 1992 (on AutoCAD v10 or 12 DOS, can't remember now). Only difference is that this drawing was created by physically scaling the image from a photo using a grid type approach and then manually inputting the data one by one into AutoCAD, connecting the dots so to speak, and finally cleaning up the "lines".

Then the digitizers hit the scene, which helped speed this process up a bit.

Now, with the ability to insert raster images into CAD, trace them, and freeze those images on their own layer, it makes the process very easy and accurate.

If you really wanted to get serious, you could purchase one of the several Raster-To-Cad programs out there which would make things more "automatic" -- however, there is still a good bit of user input / pre / post cleanup involved.

Thanks Eric308! I was going to try the insert/trace plan with the jpeg Dicenzo sent me but your raster image idea is probably worth a try first - I think I already have the software for that. Thanks!

    Thanks Eric308

I could use that for my drawings too.

The only decent car in my library was a P-car.
Attached, front, rear, & side views, in AutoCAD 2000 format.
I also have a top view of a Countach, but it's kinda lame so I won't bother.

If anyone else has AutoCAD drawings of Ferrari's, I welcome the posts.

It you have those in .dwg format, could you zip & post the Jag, Pathfinder, F40, cyclist, & the Babe?

    Kerrari,

How much luck have you had so far?

Try this website - CAD Block Exchange Network. They have all kinds of cars.

Also, I'll attach my current Ferrari collection

    Hi,

Use this block site like the guy before me said. They
have hundreds of cars and people too. Cars make
drawings look cool like elevation views in parking
garages. Sometimes a fast car looks better then
    a exotic car.

Thanks everyone but out of all these I still don't have a ready-to-go block of a 308 (or the FIAT) but when I have time, I'll try the trace / raster approach on the line drawings dicenzo provided and if I get it working I'll post back here. Thanks!

Here is a Alfa GTV, TZ, SZ, and Giulietta Spider I did for paddock layouts. They are not too interesting, but the dimensions on the drawing were right. - George
