Quick question on the above. Has anyone been able to make the auto high beam work? I am pretty sure the US 296s don't have it despite the Auto button on the steering wheel teasing me.
Don't drive it often at night but with shorter days, I occasionally do.
Manual doesn't mention it and pushing the Auto button just turns on high beam when low beams are on.
Website shows auto high beams but presumably not available in the US?
Does this work in other regions?

I’m not sure but I’ll check next time I drive at night (NZ here).

I actually did one of the very few night drives I’ve ever done in the car last night - and noticed for the first time the car has headlights that illuminate different parts of the road when you turn at low speed. Pretty sure I wasn’t imagining this.

It started to lightly rain on my drive and I had previously turned the wipers to 0 not A. Trying to find this toggle at speed in the dark without any illumination on the wheel was a struggle haha. Found it in the end and will know for next time. As a first time Ferrari owner there is a lot to get used to on the wheel and it’s not easy to do quickly and under pressure. Still can’t for the life of me turn recirculated air on/off in a hurry when I see a dirty truck up ahead!

Welcome to Haptic Touch controls. Try navigating CarPlay menu while driving; in fact please don’t, the probability you’ll end up in a ditch will increase dramatically.

Agreed that haptic stuff is a disaster on an otherwise amazing car.

With CarPlay does anyone know how to switch quickly between Google Maps and the “Ferrari” app (tyre temps etc). I’m constantly trying to navigate rows and rows of icons whilst on the move and it’s dangerous and frustrating.

Also, when I get a txt message it takes over the entire dash and I loose my speedo etc for a few seconds. Can this be disabled?

Thanks for checking on Auto headlights. Suspect it was skipped/removed on US cars...
As for haptic, it does take some time to get used to, wish they had a couple of shortcut buttons on the wheel, would make life easier

Carplay: long hold on the home/return button gets you back but you still have to select the vehicle menu. Within car play, you can swipe to get quickly to the next page and I have arranged icons accordingly on my phone to ensure Waze/Google maps also the first 2.
    Suboptimal for sure.
FYI the Purosangue doesn't even have Nav so hitting the Nav menu gets you to Carplay.

That’s the adaptive light package. I’ve had it on my S class since 2015, just bought a 488 that has it. When I spec out my 296, it will be on list for sure.

To switch between the CarPlay screen and then the Ferrari main screen just tap the haptic area to wake the controls and then press and hold the home button and it will swap back to the Ferrari screen

I was initially annoyed by the swapping. The only way Ive found to stop the swapping is to not use CarPlay. And just setup the phone as a Bluetooth device. I found I missed the CarPlay features lol. So now Ive taken accepting the swapping when a text comes in. I’ve trained my eyes to look at the HUD speedo for speed and to use the rev lights on the steering wheel for engine revs.

I like being able to answer the occasional family members text message with Siri- otherwise I dont like to get involved with texts when driving.

I leave the CarPlay running if I was using Waze or GoogleMaps for Navigation, but 99% of my driving is familiar roads so it’s actually a bit of a non issue for me. Also interesting fun fact, if you use AppleMaps for Navigation, then you will get the arrows (“turn left in 100 feet..”) in the Navigation slice on the main Ferrari screen- but this is only for AppleMaps. I have a feeling this is entirely a legal/ rights/ thing. It’s really silly, they should give you the same thing with Google or Waze or anyone.

Anyway, I was really frustrated with the setup, and about a few weeks into ownership the little voice in my head asked me a simple question: are you really going to let this absurd control system get in in the way of this amazing Ferrari? It’s beautiful, it sounds great, it goes great, so just do a “set it and forget it” with the controls, and enjoy it! This has worked for me. But note to Ferrari- the system really needs improvement.

My automatic brights work fine and it is a US car. if you press the button from the back it will just turn on the high beams. If you hit it from the front it will flash them. It should default to automatic high beams.

Done that but it doesn’t seem to switch low/high automatically. The light icon is blue in the dash, do you get anything different on your dash display? Thought it might work anyway but not the case high beams stay on.

I believe if you put your phone in a do not disturb mode you won't get the CarPlay switching, but you also won't get notifications of your texts.

Easy fix on your phone: settings-> focus-> driving. You can select only few ppl to display messages. Then at the bottom while driving, select activate with CarPlay. Removes the switch/pop-up except for key people if you wish.

Excellent tips, thank you both. I have my family members on a list that will go through the DND so I will still get them but not every random text. I know a few people who leave DND on all the time due to the volume of texts and calls.

Closing the loop on this. Car was at the dealer for a couple of items, they confirmed the auto high beams feature is not available on US cars. Seemingly every manufacturer in the US have solved that challenge except for Ferrari ;)
