I've already thrown a note over to David Moore to see if he could do it, or refer me to a good shop in town. I'd rather not ship the head out, nor the short block if I had to, but if I must.. eh.

I need the motor rebuilt on the S2000. It needs new pistons, bearings, four vavles and possibly sleeves. Not sure on this, because the sleeves are probably 'ok' and thy are FRM and not out on the market for sale.

The head and most everything is torn down. I need to get the short block to a shop if possible, and thus, need a cherry picker. Got one? Got one I can rent? Know a place that can rent one to me for a day?

Anyway, besides the parts, which I can obtain, do you know of a machine shop that can do goooooood motor work on a high tolerance motor like this one?

    Thanks greatly!

Aw geez Randy, that blows. I went through the same thing last year with my Integra, the # 3 piston failed & damaged the head, cams, values etc. It was a pretty penny to fix, I'd hate to think what it cost for an S2K. I'll ask the shop that rebuilt mine & if they can recommend anyone the Hill country area & has to proper skills to do so..

    Good luck.

Are you looking for somebody to do the whole motor or just the machine work? A friend that rebuilds race Miata engines in town uses him to do everything they don't do in-house.

I've got an old cherry picker you can borrow. It sometimes needs to get bled & filled with fluid, but oddly enough after I let it sit outside for 6 months it picked an engine up and set it on a trailer no problem. It's big, won't break down at all... need at least a half-ton pickup to carry it (maybe a tall van like a Sprinter will hold it, but I doubt it).

It's some distance for you but I recommend Hondamotive in Fort Worth. I am currently about to send my R engine to them. I took the R engine to another place last year and have had lots of problems. Hondamotive(now Dealer-Alternative) is 817.870.5096. All my previous work had been done by myself or them(they were the only ones I let work on my car),but last year I experimented with a different place and didn't have good results.

Your more than welcome to my engine hoist, but it's a little bit of a drive for you :)

good luck on the engine rebuilding.
