So I just bought a 2015 r8 v10 plus with 7k ln the clock salvage title for $66k it needs some love to be good lol.i am a little nervous when I get the car and start driving it will I like it more? Will the 360 get pushed aside? Will I fall in love with the r8? I have always wanted a ferrari like most of us it was a child hood dream.so I'm sure this guys on here with the same scenario do you love them all the same or drive on more than the other? I think it depends on what you like in a car.
If you like modern, smooth, easy to drive, less attention, less maintenance, lots of gadgets, etc then the r8 is your car, as is a hundred other modern cars. But Audi really know how to engineer a car.
If you remember Gllligans Island, the R8 is MaryAnn, the 360 is Ginger ;)
You marry Mary Ann, but on a Saturday night, Ginger is the one that everyone will be looking at. Do I want Ginger making my lunch every day? No. Mary Ann is usually the “smart choice”, but Ginger is the one you never forget and are remembered for by others ;)

I give the R8 a lot of respect. If you can only have 1 car, and want a sports car, that or the 911 is my pick.
But I decided I’d rather have an Audi DD (A5) and 360 for weekends, after hours.

Congrats and good luck and let us know how the project turns out...I’m fascinated by these stories.

I'd teach Ginger how to cook. Stick with the 360... there's nothing that compares to pulling out on to the highway in a Ferrari.

It's essentially a Gallardo with less bling... It depends on what you prefer, it's a much less "eventful" and worry-free, digital experience that will take some of the responsibility out of the driver's hands, more like a normal luxury car would. I think both of them in the garage will be an even thing, and you could drive what you are in the mood for.

No, it's not a Gallardo with less bling. I mean it's same platform but it has so much less mechanical charisma.

R8 doesn't feel anything like a Gallardo in my experience.

R8 is a nice car. It's a smooth, comfortable, fast, nice handling daily drive IMO. To the above point...kinda like any luxury car in many respects.

360 has a lightness to it and yet manages to feel well made but it doesn't have the leaden feel of the German cars IMO. The 360 is vibrant, alive, exciting...I never thought that of MY 2012 R8 V10 manual. I traded it on a 997 GT3 and the GT3 on a 360 manual...

I am curious how you feel about the 997 GT3 in comparison to the 360 manual...? I have had my 360 (manual) for ages, and will like never part with - something so right about that car. I had a 997 Turbo some years ago, and I eventually traded it on a 612, but I wonder if I would have kept a GT3 - think I would... Anyway, just curious about your insight.

Had a few in my rental fleet and finally gave up, unreal repairs and cost of service and maintenance. Volkswagen products seem to be on my lifts the most out of any make. I personally do not like the way audi/Lamborghinis drive, to each their own i guess.

Either way, have some fun with it. Experiencing different cars is always interesting. You can always move on - hopefully not too upside-down...

I think I read how some would compare a V10 R8 more with a F430 than a F360 due to the power discrepancy. Never drove an R8, so can't really comment apart from that :\

I will definitely post a comparison of the two quick little side by side YouTube video. I have owned a couple cars up until now my favorite car has been a 96 dodge viper GTS b/w but since getting the 360 that has changed lol. Viper was a good straight line car visibility was horrible it was like driving a boat.the nose was huge everything inside was plastic but it was a childhood dream car for me at some point In life will have one side by side with my 360.the 360 has been my favorite I love the look the feel the drive visibility is awsome it's like a gokart great car.i will see what this r8 v10+ brings to the table I'm sure the 7spd dual clutch will be a big difference.

Well if you turn into RWD it will be a nice car, other than that I would not buy one, or drive one. It was about the most boring car I ever drove, and I am not a fan of the looks.

R8 is a really nice car. But somehow I don’t think you’re going to replace the 360 after owning it. I wasn’t that impressed with the one I drove.

Had the most hardcore R8 of them all, a GT Spider and something was always missing. Then I bought my first Ferrari, an FF, and quickly realized the difference. R8 was great but just not as playful and exciting as the F cars. It's very mechanical in its deliver of the experience and while that's great maybe for a DD it lacks that special Ferrari - grin per mile department.

Throw an exhaust and it’s close. The power is on a different level. My brother had a white 2014 v10 Plus and it was very nice. My only complaint was it just did t do it for me. Doesn’t give you the “I’m in a Ferrari” feel. But everything, at least to me, hands down better: shifts faster than the 430, never breaks down, audi doesn’t need a 45 minute video sent to them showing ball joint play to honor warranty stuff like Ferrari, doesn’t have the little issues like dash vents poping out, feels solid as hell and the awd lets you just about screw up a turn and the car will fix it for you. I like a car I can drive, but most wont drive their Ferrari for fear of depreciation...... the Audi on the other hand has been proven over 100k miles as I know an owner. He plans for 200k, and only been in the shop once or twice.

The 997.2 GT3 is one of my all-time favourites. It's just so good at everything, so direct, planted, sounds great, comfortable. I loved it. Once I had the 360 in the garage though I sold it. I don't track cars anymore and the 360 was a better once-a-week fun car for me. The whole drama of it, the beauty, the light, frisky feel and insane sound.

The GT3 is such a great machine though. I just bought a 2004 GT3, which is more like the 360 in a lot of ways, but the 997 is a high water mark. I drove a new GT3RS a couple weeks ago and had zero inclination to buy one. I think I just like the feel of older cars...

I have a 996 GT3 and have extensively driven 997 GT3s. I prefer the 996 for everything save possibly aesthetics.
The 6GT3 is a nice complement to my 3 pedal Modena and the two cars are surprisingly similar in many ways.
    Both have their charm.

Also had a 997 Turbo, completely different experience. I'll be much "older" before a Turbo is more appealing than a GT3.

I have owned 997 GT3, GT2, Turbo S, F430, 360, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and the newer LP version Spyder.

I would never buy an R8 for any reason other than it being transportation. Just like a BMW or Mercedes. Both make great performance cars which I have owned and liked.

Comparing an R8 to a Ferrari -- or even a GT3 -- is like comparing papayas to coconuts.

Ferraris are Supercars. Audis are transportation.

While the V10 R8 is a great Audi it will never evoke any feeling of exceptional performance, razor sharp handling at the performance edge or win any design awards. The design might not age as gracefully as any Ferrari.

Audis are great reliable transportation. Ferraris are sex on wheels.

I drive Supercars for the fun of it. I drive performance cars to get from A to B.

I bet a RWD, manual R8 would be a fantastic driver’s car, but I don’t believe they built any in that configuration.

I’ve had two 355s and an R8 V10 Spider between them. As sanfran says, the R8 is just transportation. Yes it’s fast but it’s a daily driver. The first time I went through a tunnel in the R8 I was very disappointed. It’s not even close to the sound of a 355. I might buy an R8 again but it would be to replace my Carrera 4S, not my 355.

For those of you who have been on here a long time, you will remember when I bought my 04 Gallardo, and I said it drove like a Toyota pickup truck, and so I turned it into RWD, and of course I did a bunch of other stuff and after about 50K it was a hell of a sports car. The only reaction I got after driving multiple variations of the R8 was where is my pillow I need a nap. Like every Audi I've ever driver steering was numb, I might be alone in this but I do not like Audi's interiors nor their looks.

How would you compare the 360 to the Gallardo Superleggera? Have some thoughts on trading my manual 360 for a low miles first generation Gallardo SL (E-Gear of course).

u will have more emotional attachment to the ferrari (the sound, the red, the vibrations and noise inside the cabin, the headaches u had in the past) but you will use the R8 as a more versatile, practical, reliable and comfortable supercar (road trips, nice dinner, long drives, stuck in traffic). It's a good pair
