My watch, less than 4 months old got a little scratch on it from the railing in my house. I was told that the metal is too soft to buff out like I have on other watches. Have any of you ever resurfaced the Royal Oak Off Shores?

This watch is pristine and every time I look at my phone for the time, it pisses me off.

    Any other solutions? Thanks!

I don't have an answer but...ouch. Sorry to see that on such a nice watch. Hope you can get it fixed.

Without seeing it in person it's hard to know for sure if it can be buffed out or if you need a new bezel but either way, blow me up.

Don't have any useful information for you, but that is one beautiful Safari even with the scratch. I've been eying the Panda myself...might be blowing you up soon too Dave. ;)

Thank you! I hope so too :(

I think I do owe you a call Dave. Maybe wifey can help me out :) I hope the bezel doesn't need to be changed.

Mark, where have you been? The Panda is a great watch. Have you seen the Montauk or the Navy?

Sorry to see that, I have a rubber clad so the bezel is ok but the case has the scratches.
I know the factory can buff out most scratches, but you could try an authorized AP service center. They might be able to at least make it look less visible.

Dude, by FAR my favorite ROO. Awesome!!

Sorry to see the damage; I'm super OCD and would freak. How deep is the scratch? I bet an AP service center can polish it out. Did you buy from an AD here in LA?

I am OCD as well. Its not that deep. The pics are a little dramatic. AP told me to get a new bezel but I assume they just want money.

I really really want that watch.

Been around, we should go on another ride once the weather gets better. I have seen both of those, something about the black/white/red of the Panda though that really wows me. Is the strap with the deployant comfortable to you? I tried on a Safari on the hornback but the deployant dug into my wrist a bit. Been casually looking for a Panda on a bracelet assuming it would be more comfortable. Hit me up sometime, hope you're doing well!

It's not the most comfortable watch when you first get it but it loosens up and conforms to your wrist. I tried to sell the Ducati recently but took it out one sunny day and decided to keep it. In short, lets go.

    Antony,

I've got the same Off Shore as you, but with the black face. I did something similar to you only on the other side of the 11 o'clock case screw. Here's what I found works to some degree. Tape off the polished area around the bezel and just to play it safe the crystal, too. If you use a scotch brite pad (a new one) and gently go in the direction of the surface grain you can get good results, but not perfect. If you are feeling brave enough you could tape off all the case screws, entire polished area of the bezel, and the crystal and then use the scotch brite pad over the entire brushed area of the bezel. This will give a slightly different finish, but it will have an overall consistent finish. Wait until you start banging it on the edge between the polished area and the brushed...lots of little dents on that very sharp edge! Like others have said all this adds to the patina of the watch. The scratch you have now will not be the last, unless you stop wearing it! Ask me how I Know...
Anyway, enjoy your APOS, it's a great timepiece and very unique.

You can't just buff out the scratch. The bezel needs to be removed and properly detailed. If you try and polish the scratch out with the bezel on, you will ruin the finish on the screw heads.

Thats the problem with the ROOs and ROs, they came up with a new Ceramet material is more scratch resistant, try a Cape Cod Polish Cloth, it might help make it less obvious

Cape cod cloths are for high polished finishes, your bezel where the scratch is has a matte finish, don't use a Cape Cod cloth on that bezel!

That's headed back to AP for repair at one point.

I did the same to my EOD with PVD and AP installed a new bezel for around $900 which was at least 5 years ago. Granted your bezel is bare metal, but the damage looks fairly severe from the photo.

I'd wear the heck out of the watch until it requires servicing and have the bezel repaired or replaced at the same time.

I agree . My Barrichello is in service now and should be back in about 2 more weeks
My watch was nicked up and in need of a service by the time I sent it in but should be perfect when it gets back scratches fixed and all
