Hi all I have a GTS on order, and have an appointment coming up with Tailor-made in NY. I had requested an Atelier appointment but somehow ended up with Tailor-made. My question is, will this end up costing me substantially more? Namely, if I only order things that were Atelier level anyway, do I still get charged more? Thanks!
I believe with tailor made they expect you to use some non-automotive fabrics in the interior. So you'll probably end up spending more on that. The rest is up to how much self control you exercise.
Certain elements of the TM are present in the workshop. price is the same. TM presents an almost infinite extension of choices of paints, textiles, materials...
For example 'Prestige' leather is only offered to tailor made clients. Also special paint colors are another exclusive feature for specific colors. Lucky choice as tailor made appointments are very popular but limited due to the demand for them!
Order the car how you want it- if its truly not going to utilize the customization level of Tailor Made then I would tell them. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
As I understand it: Atelier is just a large set of additional options that are not available at the dealer configurator level. Tailor Made is Atelier but with almost infinite custom personalization options. My suggestion if you go with either is to have a very clear vision of what you want to do and let them guide you in refining it. If you go in there unsure you are going to get overwhelmed with the choices and will not have enough time during the appointment to nail down your optimal spec, and then you'll be second guessing yourself afterwards ... and that's not good because they do not like you changing your spec after you've left, and they will not price it unless you confirm it. In fact if you dare ask them to re-render something more than twice on a half mil car, you know because you're unreasonable enough to want to see how it looks with different options, they will reach out to your dealer and complain about you. Ask me how I know. I actually pulled my 812 GTS from them and gave it back to the dealer to spec who was more than happy to indulge my fussing with my spec as many times as I wanted until it locked. So be mindful of the above if you're a spec 'tweaker' because you've got nothing else to do but second guess yourself for 18 months between deposit and freeze date. Others love the process and swear by it, so I'm not knocking it, and it does produce extraordinary results (as well as questionable ones), it just isn't for me. All that said Aldo is great and has impeccable taste so he will not guide you wrong.
I just had my Atelier appointment in NYC and I second soulsea's advice: have a clear vision on what you want and let them guide. We spent 90 mins discussing exterior paint colors even though I went in knowing I wanted Rosso Corsa. In the end I chose Rosso TRS which is metallic Rosso Corsa but if I hadn't went in with clarity on what I wanted for paint and options I can't imagine what a nightmare it would have been.
Any thoughts on what can be done to upgrade the interior with Atelier? I have a NYC appointment in the fall. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Much wider range of leather colors than what the typical dealer has. I went for Azzurro Santorini. Painted carbon (ex: stripes, dreamlines). Unique stitching such as the “X” pattern or something with multiple colors like the tricolore stitching. Painted interior details is another. You can paint match interior plastic to exterior colors or whatever color you want. Hope this helps. This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. They have much more too!
SPEC options. Dealers use a ticket they just build as an Atelier Build. some rules are bendable I did all alcantara carpet on my SF90 spider build which defied the standard order for a nonAF car. There are “rules” for everything - there is a spot between the hand rest and the wall that was going to default to black and I had it changed to Bordeaux to match. Using alacantara for the whole steering wheel and alcantara rear wall and shields on the seats. All done through Atelier. There are the colors - can be ordered through dealer if they or you know and they build a ticket BUT In totality it’s harder to get it through. Whereas atelier can easily do it. There are limits. Whether taste or buidability who knows? Can change all surfaces except the required ones Required (May not be all) upset dash and upper door All Airbag surfaces. Color is of course your choice but material can be the Special leathers or alcantara or uktrasuide or Apollo L4 Kevlar etc Carbon colors Plastic aluminum can be selected - I did matte CDF instead of the standard. Or tinned / hammered surfaces. I copied one of the TM builds on details of the Durga es and carbons for a more complete bespoke build through Atelier. It’s the details. If not, the the dealer is just as good. Look at the personalization book. Do you have it ? PM me if not and you’ll get some ideas. Non automotive materials are the purview of tailor made. All other choices within the color spectrum and finishes are available at atelier. The more you have a vision of the touches the more Heather and Isabella can do. Liveries. Finishes. TM paints and surface colors and finishes are somewhat available. TM opens the door to all non automotive materials and colors and finishes limited by taste (Ferraris) and money (yours). It’s addictive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
