Now all we need is for Nico to be faster in the session he gets to drive than Vettel in the following session.

Quick - somebody tell Hulk he’s in the wrong car. The seat fit was meant to be at Haas to replace Mazespin.

Seeing how Aston Jordan Point and Aston Martin Lagonda are faring, I guess Mr. Stroll regrets selling his prized collection to finance this clusterf***.

Szafnauer: Aston Martin must be realistic now P3 ‘a step too far’
    By:Luke Smith
    May 21, 2021, 8:31 AM
Otmar Szafnauer says Aston Martin must be “realistic” about what it can achieve in Formula 1 this year now that third in the championship seems out of reach.

After finishing fourth in last year’s constructors’ championship under its previous Racing Point guise, Aston Martin set its sights on leading the midfield teams this year with third in the standings.

But the downforce cuts on the 2021 cars appeared to hit Aston Martin the hardest, causing the team’s form to slump compared to midfield rivals McLaren, Ferrari, Alpine and AlphaTauri.

The team has scored just five points in the opening four races of the year - all courtesy of Lance Stroll - leaving it seventh in the standings and ahead only of the point-less trio of Alfa Romeo, Williams and Haas.

Szafnauer said ahead of this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix that third now looked to be out of reach for Aston Martin, but hoped it could recover to a top-five finish.

Stroll has a lot of money..now even more money since he has pretty much sold off one the most most valuable Ferrari collections in the world.

That said...he is gambling. He could find himself in a really bad situation really fast. F1 racing is not kind to bank accounts. Ego can be a massive and expensive hurdle to over come.

FIA sets date for Aston Martin's review bid to appeal Vettel disqualification
    By: Jonathan Noble
    Aug 6, 2021, 10:51 AM
Aston Martin's bid for the FIA to review Sebastian Vettel's disqualification from the Hungarian Grand Prix will be heard by stewards next Monday.

The FIA has announced that members of the Aston Martin team are requested to appear in front of a video teleconference at 3pm CEST on Monday 9 August to discuss the case.

Aston Martin believes that it has discovered 'significant new evidence' that was not available at the time that Vettel was excluded from the results of the Hungaroring race.

Vettel had finished second to Alpine's Esteban Ocon, but a post-race inspection of his car found that it did not have the mandatory minimum one-litre of fuel that is required for the FIA to conduct legality checks.

The team was adamant that its calculations from fuel-flow meters show there was plenty of fuel on board the car to pass the checks, but it was just a matter of being able to extract it.

In light of the Aston complaints, the FIA opted to impound Vettel's car and transport it to its technical facility in France so it can be further inspected if necessary.

The team's data indicated that given the amount of fuel in the car at the start, and what has been logged as used by the FIA's fuel-flow meters, there should have been 1.74 litres left in the tank.

The FIA says that the right of review requested by Asto Martin F1 will be on Monday August 9 at 1500 European time. That's the first stage, involving the Hungarian GP stewards and the team's new evidence. If the original decision is confirmed, the appeal process will kick in.

To clarify, first the Hungary stewards have to agree that there is new evidence. If they do, the review is conducted. They can either say we were right first time, in which case Aston will push ahead with the appeal, or they can say we've changed our minds, and VET gets 2nd back.

If the stewards don't accept there is new evidence, then there is no review, the disqualification stands, and the appeal will also go ahead - unless the team opts not to pursue it at that stage, because for example it accepts that it's fighting a losing battle

Aston Martin representative to report to Stewards (videoconference) at 15:00 on Monday 9 in relation to the Vettel disqualification.

Aston Martin fails in review bid of Vettel's Hungarian GP DQ
    By: Jonathan Noble
    Aug 9, 2021, 1:47 PM
Aston Martin has failed in its bid to seek a review of Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification from Formula 1's Hungarian Grand Prix, after an FIA hearing on Monday.

At the hearing, the team submitted analysis from more than 100 channels of fuel-system related data to show that there had been a fuel system failure in Vettel’s car.

This failure of fuel cell pressure meant the air pump in the fuel cell activated a maximum output which, by pumping air through the fuel cell, meant a significant amount of fuel was discharged from the car.

It was this failure that meant only 0.3 litres of fuel could be extracted afterwards.

The FIA accepted that this evidence, which pointed to a malfunction of the fuel cell pressure relief value, was a new element.

However, in light of further investigations conducted by Aston Martin, it emerged that the team believes that there was actually less than one-litre of fuel remaining in the car at the end of the race due to the fuel system problem. Therefore, the FIA felt that the new evidence was not relevant to the case.

Curious- if the race didn’t have a restart etc, would Aston’s car still have been disqualified or this fuel sample issue is due to the race lasting longer?

The pit wall should have told Seb to stop the car the moment he crossed the finish line. Whether that would have made a difference....who knows.

He did a full lap on the fuel that he had...assuming the car was underfueled for strategy reasons at 95kg (123 liters), assume a burn rate of 1.75 liters per lap, but that's a racing lap. So slow down lap, half?

I think you're right in assuming AM would've gotten enough fuel out and keep their 2nd position.

@william-->I don't mind the donuts even though it's a fine.

AMF1 blamed a faulty fuel pump for the reason Seb didn't have 1ltr of fuel hence as to why they should have stopped Seb immediately after crossing the finish line.
