Asseto Fiorano- multimatic shocks

I can’t answer on the paint.

I’m told the Multimatic hardware they are using for the AF pack on the SF90 and it was implied it is the same hardware for the 296 is the same as on their GT3 car. It was not said but I would imagine the tuning is quite different for a street car.

Chevy has been using Multimatic on there top end Camero and ZR2 Truck. Top end high quality suspension. I would think a 296 with this would be the way to go.

It looks in person more like a two layer like Rosso Fiorano. Doesn't have the uber depth of a triple layer (in my opinion).

You are wrong. Multimatic is an independent Canadian company. Ford is Multimatic's customer, as is Ferrari. Ferrari buys just the dampers (to its own specifications obviously), Ford commissions the whole chassis to Multimatic.

 

yes they hire them to build it but the design is from ford ....

 

The things that end up in Fords are designed by Ford, not the products that other manufacturers order.

 

Multimatic own the patent for the shocks, so their design. Obviously adapted to customer requirements.

They also design and build race cars, among them the IMSA Mazda.

100% agreed. It's surprising that for $308k, it's not standard.

Never have experience with Multimatic, what is the advantage of it compared with MagneRide?

It seems the spool valve needed to be replace for damping adjustment.

 

adaptive damping still leverages the type of conventional dampers that have the limitations the DSSV damper solves.

it’s not widely shared, but DSSV dampers were used in a series of world championship winning F1 cars. It’s since won championships in all kinds of other series. That Ferrari chose it over the magnetic shocks in it’s too flight cars speaks volumes…

In any event, Multimatic has some very interesting solitons coming, including adaptive models that utilize DSSV.

 

They are better for track duties, but have their limitations on the road (too stiff) and also negate the lifter. So it's horses for courses, not a better solution overall.

 

I agree that Ferrari (and AMG GT cars) specify their multimatic shocks very stiff, which kind of makes sense given the intended purpose of the assetto package. But they don’t have to be so extreme. The damping could be configured to be a more civil for a reasonable balance (for not ever going to be tracked) road car.

 

Indeed, but you still cannot have 2 different stiffness settings, and most importantly for many, you can't get the lifter.

 

At first I was keen with MangeRide because of "tuneability". However, the Asseto Fiorano pack seems to be a "bargan" as it comes with Carbon seats, door panels and Steering wheel. It also gives me a way out not adding suspension lift for 2nd hand value. The cost of optioning suspension lift is a bit crazy as it bundle with AFS head light, which turns out to be 17700USD after tax in Hong Kong...

 

It seems the Carbon seats and steering wheel are not included in the Fiorano pack... Now I have to think over it

 

The lack of the ability to have a front end lifting system makes it a non starter for me here in LA. It’s unfortunate.
