    Dear Comrades,

I am interested to learn whether there are any Rolls Royce Phantom (not convertible) owners within the custodianship of contributors to this illustrious forum and if so, how they fare as an 'owner-driver' rather than chauffered. Or perhaps chauffeuse might be more interesting :) Either way, your views would be much appreciated. (When I said either way I didn't mean, well, um, . . . . . whatever :)

    With kind regards,

    512 Tea Are

Dear comrade 512Tea Are, there are quite a few of Phantom owners, I know LVEric owns two, and there is another Enzo owner (cant think of his name, he also owns a 599 with his brother) i think he owns two as well. I personally dont own one, but have been fortunate enough to have use of one for a few days, since it was lent to me I was the driver, Its a large car... VERY large, depends on what you want, if ur looking for a drivers car look else ware (Maybach 52S) but if you are either going to be chauffered around or driving the family/ clients around its a great car. BMW reliability and RR craftmanship.

I've actually heard the exact opposite ... the Phantom is a car to drive, and the Maybach is best when chauffered ...

    Dear Graham,

Surely you are not thinking of becoming the custodian of such an automobile , not unless you currently possess at least a good dozen or so of Ferraris.

It is fine to envisionate the ownership of this sort of vessel but only once one has aquired several Ferraris .

    Best regards,

    Amenasce

My father has a phantom, he loves it but on the weekends he enjoys using his 30K silver cloud III much more, he says it draws way more attention its RHD. I've used the phantom many times and its great and all but I can hardly just its price, but then again I don't have that kind of money. To me I'd probably go S63 and F430 coupe for the same price. I remember my dad paid something like 380K after tax, I have an S550 and I know it desnt stop traffic like a phantom but the ride is about 90% that of the phantom for 250K less. I forgot the name but the one we have in the family is a royal blue color it looks great in that color its the only one ive seen that color.

I'm warming up to the Phantom. There are good deals on used ones.

Whats it like to live with ? Are prices for parts still ridiculous or are they priced like BMW parts now ?

I imagine the Phantom is quite reliable bcus of all its BMW bits, is that true ?

    Thanks

I like the Phantom better. You are a little higher off the ground and you don't have to smell the stench of all the ordinary people that you drive past.

I own 2. The "standard Phantom" and the EWB Phantom. One was made to be driven and the other was made to be chauffered.

I think he was refering to this guy... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282290

How does the EWB Phantom compare to the standard one? Also, is it ever hard to move the Phantom through traffic or tight streets? The thing is massive!

Quite honestly the Phantom is very nimble despite its size. it really is a car to drive rather than be driven in. Needless to say, a phantom owner gets great parking where ever they want to go. Maitinance is almost nil. I have been driving Phantoms for six years and have never needed any warantee work done on any of them. I truely think they are the best car built in the world. There are a few narrow streets that might be a tight squeeze but it is a car you will truely enjoy year after year. If you have never owned a Roll-Royce you will find that just driving one will change your life. There is a feeling I cannot explain but when one owns one it just makes you a happier and better person. Get one if you can.
