I want to know if any of my fellow Firefighters own a Ferrari? I’m sure I’ am not alone here and I want to here from you.

I would hope not. Shouldn't the salary of a public service position preclude such luxuries?

I very nearly gave a similar response, but I figured the rest of F-Chat wouldn't let me down. :)

I certainly hope your joking. If anyone deserves big bucks its firefighters. They risk their lives to save people and thats what you think about them?

    Man,

if youre dumb enough to think that just because someone is a public servant they couldnt afford a ferrari, i really wonder how you could possibly scrape together enough money to even buy a daewoo.

its not how much you earn, its what you do with it that counts.

I am a public servant in an entry level position, however through wise investment, i earn possibly 6 times my annual salary every year investing.

    what a tool.

I'm in law enforcement and have an '85 308 QV...but am now reconsidering ownership since I am just a lowly civil servant. Does anyone have a Miata they want to trade, since I have no business owning a Ferrari?

I remember attitudes like that at Porsche clubs, but this is the first time hearing it from the Ferrari side. I have always been treated like an equal within the Ferrari community. Guys with $8 million GTOs, $20,000 308 GT4s, etc...always treated the same. It's the love of the mark that brings us together, not the size of our bank accounts.

...very disappointed in the comment. I would guess not a Ferrari owner?

Gentlemen... juste moved to a very small town and the local fire dept here is strictly voluntary for most positions. In a show for community support i have been debating volunteering. FULLY agree that these guys deserve HUGE thanks (and perhaps salary) as they risk their lives to save others.

Besides, if a police officer pulled me over and asked me where the fire was due to speeding... well... :)

Ignorance is everywhere, even on Ferrarichat as just displayed. I know a guy that is a chief of the fire dept. His house is on the market for about 750,000 large. I bet you he could afford such luxuries. And military firefighters get paid very well, they could easily afford 308's.

From what I've heard, firefighters can do pretty well - especially if they use their 3-4 days off for entrepreneurial ventures. A solid base salary (as told to me) in the 50k's-60k's with plenty of spare time should make for a solid career.

A customer of mine has a 88 328 and is a FF in the Garlic Capitol. He works on it himself and is a great guy. He should be coming in the week to pick up some parts, I will tell him about your post.

Wow... Not very cool, there, Captain Obnoxious... i bet if a firefighter saved you or your family from a burning building, you'd think otherwise... i have no problem with my taxes paying for a Ferrari for a firefighter, if that was possible... i don't have the balls to run into the fiery, smoldering, burning depths of an unstable building to save the life of someone i don't even know and i'm pretty f_cking grateful that there are people out there who DO have what it takes...

OK, I'm not a firefighter, however I do spend a great deal of time with them during the year. I am a detective with the sheriff's department (commonly known as undeserving public servant according to 602rwt) that handles our area arson investigations.

Just goes to show that you don't need to be pulling in a 6 or 7 figure income to have a passion for Ferraris.

I hope you didn't purposely mean to prase it that way. I'm guessing you were going for the "I think it would be hard to afford a ferrari on a public service salary."

Positions like that definately should be respected and rewarded. There are few people willing to risk their lives for the sake of others.

Listen..You have absoluty no right to talk about ANYBODY like that..let alone a person who puts thier life on the line to save people, whom they don't even know. What happends if you had a house fire? Would you not call the fire department to put it out? Or would you call an excecutive to come and throw pencils at it...You are a self centered, elitest who thinks that anybody who does not make 100k and above a year doesn't deserve the finer things.

I hope this fellow finds you one day in a dark ally and shows you first hand the use of a fireman's axe

Not a firefighter, but a police officer. Note this jackass can't even fill out his profile. Could easily afford a F car now, but have other priorities first.

Well... actually anything above a 308 or a 1988 TR is out of our price range of course... and besides, we put our lives on the line every time we work, keeping people like you safe... Driving something nice like a 308 is justified in my book. Also I hope you don’t think you’re above a “public server” like me… That remark is not cool.

    Hey Black Horse,

I have two uncles that are firemen outside Boston. Neither have Fcars nor could they deal with the maintenance issues of these cars. These guys are career Firefighters, great guys, but have no interest in cars like these. All one would say to me is, "drive the speed limit". Most firefighters have a lot of down time in the station and actual "fire fighting" , house fires, is rare, IMO. But what these guys see is a lot of fast cars wrapped around trees, other cars, and poles. They see decapitations of teenagers and people screaming in pain for help. They drive Volvos...........

    Are you career or volunteer?

Also, when I saw "Black Horse" I thought you were the Fcar mechanic with the shop Black Horse in CA. Guess I was wrong.

AND for all you others. Why are you so quick to jump on someone? I'm guessing 602rwt didn't mean offense when he wrote what he wrote. If I'm wrong, oh well... but you should have asked him before you pass judgment. This board has to cool down and give people the benefit of the doubt.
