Howdy I have had a few 911's. Drove a 458 once and it was pretty badass. But I was not in it long enough to gauge the interior. Now I am thinking about how cool it would be to have a roma. I love how they're understated like a Porsche. Anywaym just wondering -- are Ferraris built as quailty inside as a porsche? Or.. are they more quality? Thanks
The Ferrari uses a bunch of reworked bits from the fiat/Chrysler parts bin. Porsche uses a bunch of reworked parts from the VW/audi parts bin. I'll let you be the judge of who has a better parts bin.
I have owned eight Porsches and currently own a 458. The styling is different of course as well as the tech, but overall I would say both are very high quality.
Now if Ferrari would stop making interiors that come un glued, I would say they have the best interiors . Its seems pathetic to me that Ferrari does not aspire to build cars as good as the Jap cars are, when it comes to quality. The same goes for Ducati, their bikes are insane, but their build quality is not as good as the Jap bikes , its that simple. Thank you,
Ferrari interiors are not even close to high quality. You are exactly the customer Ferrari wants. Over pays for crap.
Strange to see so many people talking bad about the quality on a ferrari board. Is it kind of a love/hate with these cars? Is the relationship like it a completely different operating system than say.. a porchse? Is it like an affair with an unpredictable fiery exotic babe, compared to a long-term "wife material" gf?
I think it is hard for a manufacturer to get 100% of the interior styled perfect and durable. Do Porsches get sticky parts? I think my 328 or maybe the Testarossa were the last Ferrari to not have sticky parts? 30 years later and Ferrari hasn't figured it out? Although the 328 was 35 years old, to my eye and even casual people the car looked newer than the plastic 360's and 430's it sat next to at shows. You can keep the newer Ferraris looking new, but it is easier on the pre-plastic ones. I've only had the one 2015 GT3, but I like the durable feel of the interior. Some of the nicest interiors I've had recently were the BMW 640i executive interior and my current Mercedes GLS 63 AMG. Only newer Ferraris I've had were 2013 and 2017 California's, nice interiors, but not sure how they will hold up in the future. The 1999 355 I just got had sticky and other fit problems that prior owner spent over $10k to get back to "new" platinum level.
I liked the Gransport interior, but with age a few sticky parts, headliner unstuck, and those mesh seat inserts easily off colored. I spent like $5k and had it updated 90%.
I did say best looking, not best made. Personally, I prefer a simple Porsche black interior. I drive my cars, and when I drive my cars, I'm looking out at the windshield, not the interior. I find black holds up the best with the least amount of cleaning.
Ferrari knows what needs to be done, as far as their interiors are concerned, they just dont care, its all about the money, and not the cars, maybe thats why they have been getting their asses kicked in Formula 1 , ? Karma ? Maybe ? And yes, to what one said here, the 308 / 328 / 348 / Testarossa / Mondial , F40 / F50 / 288 GTO, 512 BBi /400i have the best interiors, all hand built, and the workmanship / pride shows , no glue added. Eleven models built over about 19 years, how many models have they built over the next 20 - 25 years, I counted 24 ( from memory) models and I believe triple the production numbers, maybe thats why the problems. Thank you
Manufacturers not using actual fasteners anymore accounts for a lot of things falling off or rattling. They are using clips or glue whenever they can get away with it.
I feel like everyone on this thread is a bit angry at Ferrari. Is that the general sentiment ? As a lambo built better since its by audi? I wish they had a low key lambo.
Ive never owned a modern Porsche so cant comment on it, but Im not super impressed with Ferrari interiors. Theyve come a very long way from the dog **** interiors of the 90s and before, but my 2011 California was not as good as a similar year Benz or BMW. And the newer models Ive been in are better but still not as nice as new Benz interiors IIMO.
They do......Audi R8, great 600 hp car with a great interior I want Lamborghinis to be flashy, that has been the MO since the Miura.
I’ve had a number of modern 911’s and the interior quality is excellent, especially if you spec them up to full leather. They are very well made, but pretty clinical. Everything works, is ergonomic, and makes sense. I’m new to Ferrari, but the interior seems more special, like more of an occasion. It could in the end just be what I’m used to vs. something new. But Ferrari does have a more passionate flavor to their design, both inside and out in my opinion.
Maybe just those of us who experienced the 1980's Ferraris and prior that were handmade sans of gooey plastic parts. Without that reference I think we would be more accepting of the current Ferrari flaws. I don't know, how are the current Lamborghini interiors? sticky parts too? plastic parts easily break or come loose? another 355 comparison. I notice the bottom toggle set of both seats and the roof is loose inside its frame. The 328 doesn't have any such issues with buttons and levers etc.
I have owned Porsches before and there interior is a little bit better then Ferrari just because of all the sticky button stuff. But in my opinion I didn’t buy my Ferrari for the interior I bought it for the performance. I’ve never heard people say wow look at the interior when your blowing by them at 60 mph. If you want interior go with Benz, Bentley, Aston, you want a sports car then go with Ferrari or Porsche. The interior should be a game changer if you want a 458.
