    I am confused by your question. There are no "ties" as such. Nor did they "decide" the companies were going to fail.

    I think the point I am trying to make (perhaps not so well) is that the investment parameters for Islamic funds naturally steer them away from companies which exhibit high levels of leverage, or disproportionate levels of accounts receivable, non-operating interest income, free cash (which attracts interest), credit lines, and other purely financial ratios.

    Google "Dow Jones Islamic Index" for some info on the most widely accepted (and simplest) Islamic equity investment parameters.
