I am contemplating trading my 328 towards a 512TR and in particular, I am looking for a sorted red ABS + upgraded differential 94 with under 16,000 miles to swap for my stalwart 88.5 328GTS.

It appears SN 97272 (ZFFLG40A0R0097272 - 6700 miles at Marshall Goldman) and SN 96900 (ZFFLG40A9R0096900 - 7500 miles at Ferrari Maserati Silicon Valley) are currently listed on the market at ~250-260 (depending on the listing) and ~300 asking, respectively. SN 97272 seems to have been on the market for a while now.

Has anyone made inquires into either car or worked with either dealer in the past?

Thank you for any input you can provide and feel free to PM me as well.

Merry (soon-to-be) Christmas / Happy Holidays

from the pics it looks like the SV car is the cleaner of the two. I have had mine for about 7 years now. If you dont drive and maintain it these things leak like crazy. Definitely a fun car to own but very cumbersome to drive around town as the steering is very heavy.

If importation wasn't such a hassle....

I actually dislike the automatic seatbelts in the US spec cars. I find the Euro cars much cleaner both inside and (to lesser extent) out from a design standpoint

I bought this 100 point 512 from MG
    I actually bought 2.
    Sold one kept one.
They honored all their claims and promises with me.
Harlan, the son knows the value of internet reputation.
I think by dealing only in low mileage cars, they eliminate a lot of hassle that comes with repping older cars.
I would imagine with the new tax plan , people will start looking at these gems in the spring.
Buy now as it will not go any lower than this winter.

I would beg to differ about the tax plan. With the loss of deductions the prices on all high end cars might drop further if people can't find ways to write them off.

    For business owners.
This tax plan is the equiv of wag the dogs tail long enough and he will get happy!
I am a small biz owner.
By the first half of 2018, my estimated tax payment will have dropped from 35% to 21%
For me and for many this will be incentive to grow a business as there will be more available income at hand to re invest in some form of future enhanced income.
If this is the format for many, confidence will reign.
    Confidence creates jobs and
Confidence also fuels collector car markets.

The bad thing about this TR
    If mileage is in kilometers
    It is not American market
All bets are off as to its history and believability

Mel, happy new year! I know your knowledge of these cars is magnificent. I also know that, as a former owner, you enjoy talking down prices. I can find no evidence to support your assertion that you can find a good 94 TR with fewer than 25,000 km for 'less than half of $239,000' anywhere in the EU. (That is the requirement set by the OP)

Your assertion would mean an available car meeting those requirements for less than 100k euros. Yes, there are some cheap TRs around but none of them meet the requirements of the OP. In fact you are looking at an asking price of closer to 200k USD in Europe for a clean 94 with history, no accidents and no stories and less than 25k km. Very far from the 'less than half of 239k' that you cite.

At that level it would make no sense for anyone in the US to import and federalise.

Hi Darius, you are absolutely right at this moment. I cannot check other sellers now while I am away now.

Only thing I mean is that there seems to be an enourmeous difference in US prices and prices ROW.

But please have a look at this 512TR ! :D at only 28.000 kms for K€150 (only one example ...)

I was going to post the exact same car to show the difference between the US and European markets. That car may even include VAT, not sure. According to description it has a recent service including the upgraded differential. And no mouse belts!

Unfortunately given the strength of the Euro combined with import fees, it simply is not pragmatic, especially when you consider 94s have not yet (but soon!) hit the 25 year mark.

Mel, this one does look good, I agree; though 150k euros asking price is 180k dollars.

My Dutch isn't as good as yours (!) but would the fact that the car has had a rebuild of its diff after this mileage be a worry or a reassurance? I thought the point of the 94s is that they had the good diffs, while the ad mentions they are a weak point?
