Thinking of making the move from my F12 to an 812GTS.

I love the F12 and will hate to see it go but am drawn to the GTS.

Hoping to get some feedback in the unlikely event some here made the jump from an F12 and have some amount of regret.

I will be curious to the responses as I have a GTS incoming- it is the rare car that is receiving unanimous praise from those I query and whom own it.

I've been tracking this as I am an F12 owner but it seems most were happy with the trade.

I previously owned an F12, it was a great car. Now have a 812 GTS. Amazing car. Better handling & exhaust sound (GPF doesn’t matter) and I prefer it to the F12. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    I didn’t have an F12 - I had a 812 SF,
    and now an 812GTS

    FWIW - I’ll mention some of the things I noticed that may be applicable to comparing an F12 also;

this car seems to be everything the Superfast was, and then some.
Some of the mechanics of driving are a little different because the GTS doesn’t have that nice big rear windshield. The large rear cowls / tunnels behind each seat change the rearward visibility as well.

you’ll lose the parcel shelf and some trunk space as well.

    everybody obviously uses their cars differently;

My superfast quickly became a near-daily driver (when weather permitted). The trunk space and visibility were definitely considerations before I made the move.

fortunately - none of these things were or have been prohibitive.

The GTS trunk is smaller, but still very usable. Although if you need to fit golf clubs in the back, I don’t think anybody’s figured that one out yet.

I didn’t think the GPF was a deal breaker either. I think the GTS sounds amazing and you’ll be able to appreciate it that much more with the top down or that rear windscreen lowered - which yes, you can operate independently of the top.

the interior space in the driver seat does seem slightly less. I’m 6’1”, and the top of my head seems much closer to the roof of the GTS than I remember with the SF. I haven’t tried it, but I don’t think I could wear a baseball cap and drive the GTS with the top up. Maybe some of this is my chosen/comfortable driving position - but it’s just been my observation. Others have said that the seat choice can affect this too - I have the power comfort seats. I can’t reach down and really adjust my seat without opening the door - I don’t think it was quite as tight in the superfast.

From a design perspective, depending on your
Color choice, the convertible roof seams are obviously visible from the outside on the GTS - whereas the F12/SF didn’t have that. I thought that this might bother me a lot (I went with Bianco Fuji), but it truly hasn’t been a thought in my mind at all since actually taking delivery of the car.

I’m 1 month and ~900 miles in - but loving every second of it.

I took delivery of my 812GTS in the July of 2022. It instantly became a spring-summer-fall daily driver along side my 2020 Portofino and 2019 GTC4Lusso. The last two get SottoZero ice/snow tires for the winter daily driving in NW Ohio. The 812 would eat a set of rear snows in 30 days easily so it will stay parked for now. It already has 8,000+ miles on it. It took maybe 6,000 miles of daily driving to get used to the power in first gear, and took 3,000 to get used to the power in 2nd gear. It is simply the most amazing car that I have ever driven. I like it so much that if I were offered $4M for it I would refuse. It is that amazing. I do have a fat ego, and it gets a ton of attention! It is so beautiful. The only minor complaint is the cabin could use a little more length. I am about 6 ft tall and I have to sit in a slightly uncomfortable position, but that is my ONLY complaint. I got my first Ferrari in 2010, a new California. I've gone through 2 Calis, a Cali T, and two FFs, in that time so I have over 250,000 miles of daily driving my Ferraris and the 812 simply blows the rest away. Oh, the S O U N D is unbelievably amazing. If the top is up then the rear window must be partially down to hear the engine wail. With the rear window closed, it becomes fairly quiet which once in a while is nice :).

Mine is a gold microflake with a greenish clearcoat, same as my Portofino.

How can you guys OPF doesnt matter? Doesnt matter as in you dont notice a difference OR you have removed it so it doesnt matter? From videos, there is a pretty substantial difference in GTS OPF exhaust and I think vast majority of reviews/videos I have paid attention to mentioned it.

I dont think you can remove OPF like you could remove cats and replace them with 200 cell cats in the older cars. You absolutely have to tune and because of the nature of how OPF functions, this tune isnt simply “bypass the OPF test” but more like adjustment of fuel trims and other parameters of the engine to accommodate for the pretty substantial exhaust backpressure changes.

Maybe “doesn’t matter” isn’t the right thing to say.

what I mean is that it isn’t going to keep you from enjoying the car, and it isn’t a reason not to get it.

if you imagine a world there wasn’t a “pre GPF” to compare to -
This car would sound amazing in its own right
    And it does

He does not have a GTS, nor an 812SF but seems to be loitering around here looking for every darn excuse not to buy one and go with Maclaren or Porsche.

    I see.

Well maybe he's in the OP's position where he is so fond of his F12 that he wonders if the 812 GTS experience can best it.

If you’re over 6 feet tall, you will need the racing seats for headroom.

I am 6'5" and the headroom/cockpit space is definitely a concern.

Salespeople have assured me that...as you said...with the race seats, I have nothing to worry about.

Not having the ability to 'test fit' a GTS, I am definitely rolling the dice on comfort.

I had the same concerns with the F12 and the LWB optioned seats on my 992 GT3 Touring. Both were unfounded so I am nervous hopeful. :)

He has no F car nor did he ever have one. Just follow his posts, very argumentative, very demeaning toward the brand. Sure you can have your own opinion, but only when you actually can live by experience.

I’m 6’3 and have a bit of headroom with the race seats. You should be ok.

At 6’6” and 260lbs, I’m both tall and big. I have owned a 812 SF with racing seats for 4.5 years and have enjoyed the relatively cavernous cabin. I have a 812 GTS on order and I expect it will arrive in Jan/Feb. I managed to sit in a racing seat equipped 812 GTS for about 30 minutes at a dealer in Seattle when I was traveling this fall. While the GTS cabin is certainly tighter than the SF, I think I can make it work. That said, I am keeping my SF until I am certain that I will be comfortable in the GTS long term. FWIW, my height is balanced between legs (34” inseam) and torso. My weight is mostly back/shoulders and ass (old powerlifter).

I hated my 812 GTS. I didn’t fit with the regular seats and the racing seats caused me immense back pain. Odd considering I have race seats in everything else (Pista, 812 C, Tdf…)

My only caution would be the sound for someone coming out of an F12 or 812 SF. While the GTS stil does sound good on an absolute basis, in comparison to those pre GPF models it loses a bit of its soulful shriek, is less visceral and less F1 like and has a ‘person talking behind a blanket’ effect from the extra muffling

Eh, imo PF cab with top or mini window down sounds way better than any non PF F12 or 812 coupe.

I'm only talking from the driver's experience, don't care what pedestrians hear.
