Hello I am prepping and will be painting a Ferrari Testarossa kid's pedal car and plan to do Ferrari red (what else?). Its an older one I'm semi-restoring.

Does anyone have experience with Duplicolor http://www.duplicolor.com/index.html ? I am going to do a few quick coats of spray cans. Any recommendations on colors, other products, methods, etc?

    Thanks
    Chris

I have used Duplicolor and it's a good product. Just make sure you prime it good and wet sand between coats. Also use a clear coat when done.

Thank you good info....would you recommend a color by Duplicolor - a good Ferrari red?

The thing with paint cans is get a LOT of them, to emulate the coverage of a real gun I spray them two at a time.....you HAVE to keep going once you start to get a good "flow"...it's kind of an art, if you have watched real car painters! :D

Duplicolor won't have Ferrari codes so I'll leave you with a quote I read from early California racing, they had rolled a new Ferrari and crashed it and the next event the color was discussed on the now restored car...

"That's not 'Ferrari red" it's 'Ford Truck' red...."

So any nice red shade will match one the many reds Ferrari has used over the years......the new F1 color is a nice Cherry Metallic.......

I would go get some real Ferrari paint put in a rattle can at a local auto paint store.. its going to cost a lil bit more then the paint your talking about but that with a can of clear over it would be pretty cool.

That's actually true, I get my Ferrari paint computer scanned and matched for about $22 a can, you have to have the car to do it though.....

A cheap colour match for Pinninfarina (Ferrari) red would be Austin Rover 'Signal Red' in the UK, but your Duplicolour paint finder is pretty limited in age and model. Or just choose Ferrari 'Roso Corsa' and it will be close.

FER300 use this code. It's available in Dupont for sure...I use it on my models all of the time. If you want a better finish buy a pint of Chroma Base, some Chroma Clear and a touch up gun and the results will be superior...but wear a mask ;)

I use Duplicolor paints on 99% of my repaints. Use the acrylic enamel , it comes out better then the normal Duplicolor colors.
