Are they really that good? What types of food do you use them for? Steak? Fish? Thing is, I have a perfectly good built in grill outside from Barbeques galore. What, if any, advantages of the george foreman grill? Dom
My wife loves it........... If you get one, be sure to get the one where the grill plates are removeable to wash.
Bought one a while back and its a big beastie! Now it just lies in the cupboard as all i cooked were some square sausage, black pudding, fruit pudding and bacon! So wrong person to comment on it really cos i dont cook, I'm a carry out king!
I had one about a year ago. I cooked a few things on it (mainly chicken). It wasnt bad. The food can be pretty bland but thats was sauce is for right.
I have one It does take out all the "juice" from the meat but it works great Great for cooking chicken breast when you want a quick snack
I'm a college student, so I of course have one. Great for a quick heat up. You won't be making any gourmet meals though.
I have 2, one in a closet and one in a cupboard. Neither has been used in 3-4 years. With a regular grill, I don't see any point to it.
Dom, I really do have a Foreman grille, but I couldn't help being a Smart A** regarding the Geico ad. We bought it to aid in dealing with my wife's cholesteral issue. It got used for about 1 month before it disappeared and I haven't seen it since. I can only assume that my wife 'disappeared' it because the food that came out of it tasted, well...tasteless.
Excellent for dry rubbed pork, marinated beef & chicken. Mix up some ground chuck & stuff for meatloaf.
I agree, when I made burgers on my george forman it took all the fat out so it didnt taste like much. You have to really season your stuff before you grill.
Haha, that reminds me of one time my girlfriend made pork chops and put them on the foreman grill... let's say she really over seasoned it and I pretended to like it to keep her happy :-x :-(
Yeah I do......it works great.......except that food does not taste as good as that which is prepared on the gas barbeque does. Some things like steaks are awful....whereas chicken burgers or hamburgers are comparable to the BBQ.
I have one, but haven't used it in a while. It is good for burgers, hotdogs, fish steaks, beef steaks, and chicken, but if you don't have the one with the removable plates it is a PITA to clean. That is basically why I don't use mine, I got tired of cleaning it and found other ways to cook all of the above that which usually invovles washing out a single pan or crumpeling up a piece of aluminum foil, which is more my style.
I'm not a fan, I only use one because its my only option being in an apartment. There is no temp controls, and IMO it gets too hot and tends to burn the outside while leaving the inside uncooked unless you only throw thinner cuts of meat on it. A regular grill is BY FAR the better choice.
I own two of them, one for smaller items like burger patties & grilled cheese sandwiches. The other makes larger things like streaks or large chicken breast, which has never been used & still sits in its box. (Got it last XMAS)
