Just went to go view my 296 GTS pre delivery and... its the wrong color seats. I ordered a cream alcantara and cream leather and it showed up with black seats. I have e-mails stating here are pictures of your build and it shows cream carbon fiber seats and the other sales guy(mine was out for his birthday today) said the order system shows black. I can only guess my sales guy input it wrong after our selections.

Thoughts on next steps from here?

Lots of people would never buy a car with black seats. So your resale value could tank by tens of thousands.

Ask them to replace the seats with proof of swap so you have evidence why car and window sticker aren't the same.

If Ferrari cared, they would order you a new one with correct spec and would let you drive this one until it arrived.

Everything else on the car is perfect. I just verified the final e-mail, even the window sticker just shows the seats, which are correct except for the color.
Wording in the e-mail is " I also attached the estimated MSRP and pictures of the build. I love the build and think it’s perfect! Can’t wait to see it in real life." and the screenshot of the build is attached as is the picture of the seats during the pre delivery inspection today. Other sales guy said the Ferrari system shows black seats. Is this on my sales guy or did i mess up something here.

Those seats are probably 20-30k in resale value eventually. I wouldn't even look at cars with black seats, and based on popularity of crema or cuoio, Im not alone.

Your sales guy will probably do everything he can to convince you how black is the new tan, and how perfect that really is. Because its the easy way out for him.

I wouldn't accept that car. Black seats are awful.

Yea, i was very adamant about the seats. We have 6 versions of the car and one thing is the same, the seats. I have a Blue Tesla model S with cream seats, Blue BMW X7M50i, cream seats and a blue Turbo S with cream seats so i certainly did not order black. I certainly will not settle for black. I didn't spend $15K in upgrades on seats to get the wrong one. Also my current F Car is there on consignment and i have a deposit on a purosangue so really hoping this doesnt' mess all that up. Worst case maybe i drive it for a few weeks while Ferrari builds the correct seats.

Wow. Where in the world are you getting those numbers from? I think every one of my Ferrari has black seats (including my 296) and I would almost bet that having black would not decrease resale value $1. Maybe to you personally but just take a look at the active 296 sales and the majority are black seats.

Color options are very personal to one’s taste but having red exterior and black interior is the safest bet for resale.

This has to be really disappointing. I’d be furious. You should get exactly what you ordered. There’s another thread going about a dealer messing up a customer’s service work over an email’s “verbiage.” It’s really astonishing and unacceptable that a Ferrari dealer’s staff pays no more attention to their customers’ needs than their counterparts down the street at the Mitsubishi store,

Red/tan, not black for resale value.

You might prefer black but a lot of buyers dont. And its not just Ferraris. Black interiors generally are hardest to sell in any market.

Not sure where your data comes from but it is clearly not supported by the evidence. Out of 50 296 for sale 29 of them have black seats. Clearly the majority of what people spec their car in.

Worst part is, this is the second time... The last time was, no joke, exactly 8 years ago today. It popped up in my facebook memories. Bought a used 2010 California(My first F Car) and it was supposed to be a CPO(told to me verbally) and told this car needs nothing and had a full inspection etc. Days later it left me stranded in a not good part of town and less than a month later the sales guy was fired for other issues. Car turned out to not be a CPO even though he told me it was and his e-mails made it sound like it was. The dealership made it right and i have used them every since to sell most of my cars and buy most of my cars(unless it was a Porsche).
So im sure they will fix this. Just was super disappointed after waiting years for the car and showing up and the main piece of the car(except the exterior color) was wrong. I do love the blue stitching and blue inserts though.

I completely derailed your thread and apologize. You should 100% get what you ordered and since it’s just seats the dealer should hopefully make it right. The times where it’s happened to me it was something that was able to be ordered and the dealer did the right thing. Good luck!

Sounds like people with black seats realize their mistake quickly and are most willing to sell.

Anyway, not the point of the thread, hope the dealer makes the OP whole and gets the correct seats installed!

Sorry to hear. I see that your PDF says "ver4" so something was missed in the revisions. Was your dash lower also cream leather, or all black? The door cards?

Maybe, just maybe, they can have some seats shipped out if the other parts are supposed to be black. No sure what they will do about the build sheet and placard though. I will actually be surprised if they change it out before you take delivery though, it seems that when I've seen wrong color/stripe/seat/etc at delivery the customer is faced with a take-it-or-leave-it scenario.

Counterpoint though is those cars were never intended to be keepers. They are almost all either flips or GTS placeholders. So many of them are meh.

Meh or neutral and most likely to be easily sold. Which was my point, that by selecting black you aren’t going to lose 20-30k in resale just for that color.

Everything else is correct. Dash and doors etc were all supposed to be black. just the cream alcantara on the seats to pop against all the black.
I doubt the placard is that much of an issue if just the seat color is black but the seats are still the correct carbon fiber seats.
Yes it says Version 4 as we made i think a total of 6 versions with different asseto fiorano and carbon fiber wheels or non carbon wheels and no carbon exterior. The seats and color have never changed in any version or option.

Let me rephrase it for you. "I didn't spend 15k in upgrades on seat to get F'ed"

In all honesty, sorry this happened to you. Tell the dealer to take the car back and reorder the new one.. also maybe blessing in disguise. Not take it at all, since 296 price is dropping now, if you care that is.

Entire response? You'd be happy to keep the sub-standard seats they provided? Or after they replace the seats, you'd be happy to have no proof why your build sheet and car don't match?

    Good lord.

I think it's your dubious generalization of people don't buy black seats and resale will tank.

Nice way to straw man my post, as that's not what I said.
People do buy cars with black seats, but a) they tend to have a lower resale value (subjective) and b) it's not what he ordered (a fact).

And if that is the only thing you read in the post, perhaps you want to read it again, as he said he "lol'd" at "entire response". The part about not liking black seats is subjective, the part about OP not getting the car he wanted is not. I said it "could" lower the resale value. The number it lowers is subjective, historically lighter interiors are more sought after but again - that part is up for interpretation. I said he should ask the seats to be replaced with proof of replacement, as then his window sticker would differ from the actual configuration - I think this is a reasonable ask. I said if Ferrari cared, they would order a new one, but that's a hypothetical as we all know, Ferrari does not care.
